Miss Paddyfest pageant
will be held on March 9
What festival would be complete without
a pageant? Certainly not PADDYFEST!
'The Miss PADDYFEST pageant will be
held for the eighth consecutive year on Sa:
turday, March 9, beginning with a lunche-
on at the Kin Station at 12:30 p.m.
Immediately following the luncheon, the
girls will be judged on their public speak-
ing abilities. The formal pageant begins at
7:30 p.m. at the Listowel District Secon-
dary Schoolauditorium.
Emcee for this year's pageant will be
Mrs. Judy Gordon of Listowel. Judging the
girls on their talent and stage presence
will be Jinr Reed of the Ottawa Rough-
riders, Mrs. Arlene Dunbar, and Mrs. Syl-
via Enna Stutz.
Entertainment this year will be provided
by the Listowel District Secondary School
Senior Choir under the direction of Laurie
Rowbotham. Miss Maureen Basler, our
reigning Miss PADDYFEST; will be on
hand to turn her crown over to the 1985
winner.
Immediately following the crowning of
Miss PADDYFEST, an Afterglow will be
held at the Kin Station. You are encour-
aged to attend to congratulate the new
Miss PADDYFEST and to view the major-
ity of gifts donated so generously by local
merchants.
Come on along and give these young
ladies the support and encouragement
they need and deserve.
Admission to the evening is: Adults -
$2.00 and childdren (12 years and under) -
$1.00..
Other activities taking place on Satur-
day, March 9, are a Gym Fest and a pool
tournament.
The Gym Fest, presented by the
Listowel Kippers Gymnastic Club, is being
held at the Listowel Central Public School
on Binning Street.
Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m.,
these young gymnasts will attempt to per-
form as many acrobatic feats as possible;
they have had pledges given to them for
encouragement.
The public is encouraged to attend to
witness first hand how much young gym-
nastic talent we have, and can be proud of,
in this area.
The PADDYFEST pool tourament will
again be held at the Twin Gables Tavern.
Registration tine is 11:00 a.m. Prizes will
be awarded.
Vegas Night
at Legion
The first annual PADDYFEST Vegas
Night takes place at the Legion Auditori-
um in Listowel on Friday, March 8.
Under the sponsorship of the Listowel
Rotary Club, you'll be able to test your
"Luck of the Irish" at the blackjack tables
and wheels of fortune, while quenching
your thirst with Paddy's libations.
Plan to attend this fun night and who
knows, maybe it'll prove to be your lucky
night.
Admission is $5 per person and includes
$3 of tokens, provided you arrive before 9
p.m. Doors will open at 8:30 p.m. Advance
tickets are available at all regular
PADDYFEST ticket outlets.
