an illustrated lectule in the Town,

ter Horticultural Society. Dr. Ben-
nett presented a large .nuthber of
beautiful slides showing the wonder-
ful transformation the planting of a
few shrubs and flowerg can make to
an otherwise °Unattractive site. Some
of the slides sh own were truly mag- ,
nificent and appealed very greatly to
flower loverS. Individual, specimens
of roses and gladioli were "also at-
tractive and 'instructive. The hall
was filled for the occasion. Dr. Ben-
net remained in Exetea the following
day and visited the parks and sever-
al places around town in -company
with members of the Horticultural
Society and. gave a number of help-
ful hints in'beautifying these places.
He showed a marked, interest in our
town and spoke, of it as a beauty -
spot. He also noted the improvement
that had been made around, Central
Park and the Post. offtoe site 'Since 'a
year ago. The Exeter Horticultural
-Society is doing a splendid work. A
canvas has been made fOr members,
but the response is not quite up to
that of last year. The 'premium liSts
are being kept open for a couple of
n,reeks longer' and in the meantime it,
is hoped that many others will show
their interest.in this 'Work bY taking
out a membership, in the Society.
