chers and scholars ofs the Hensall
school met in the principal's room
for the purpose of presenting' Mr. P,
Stewart, the former caretaker of the
school with a beautiftil oak rocking
chair, a pipe and case, and tobacco
pouch. Mr. Stewart taken unaware
responded to the occasion andthank-
ed the teachers and .scholars for
their beautiful and highly apprecia-
ted gifts. • Mr. • Stewart has been
very faithful in his duties as care-
taker and this generous presentation
was merely a token of the scholars

gue was held on Monday evening
last when' Mr. Jones gave a very
.helpful and instructive topic. The

The W.M.S. of the Methodist
church will hold their annual Birth-
daY party in the basement of the
church on Thursday, Feb. 14th, at
8 P.m. Mrs. Mollard, District Supt.
will address the meeting. There will
be special music and refreshments
will be served.
A very successful euchre and dance
was held by the Board of Trade in
the Town Hall on Thursday evening
last. The euchre party which con -
tinned from 8.30 to 11.30 was a very
interesting affair and owing to the
limited capacity of the hall many of
the Would-be participants were de-
nied the paiyilege of entering into the
game. The prizes were • as follows:
lst, Ladies, Mrs. M. Traquair; lst,
Gents, Mr. j. Murdock; 2nd Lathes,
Mrs. J. Paterson; 2nd Gonts, Mr. F.
Simmons. After the tables had been
cleared and the lunch served, danc-
ing was indulged in and a very en-

ley Tp, near Drysdale and after her
marriage to Mr. Pollock, lived in
HaY Tp., also near Drysdale, until
her hushand passed away about eight
years ago, when She moved to Zurich
with. her daughtei Irene, who also
deParted this life about three years
ago, The °nitre family succumbed
to the dreaded disease, constimption.
The occupants of the farm home of
Samuel Schoch, who resides a few
miles west of Zurich, were made ser-
iously ill the other night by escaping
coal gas. Christian Schoch, father
of the ownier, is still in a serious con-
dition.
At the annunat meeting of 'tlie
Zurich Library Association the treas-
urer's report showed the society to
be in a good financial position. Miss
Olive O'Brien. was re-elected presi-
dent for the year and Miss F, Kalb-
fleisch secretary-treasUrer.

The Epworth League Meeting' last

bate was much enjoyed. The subject
