WHERE'S THE SNOW —That was the question Santa Claus had for Mitchell and
Angela DeBoer and Julie Wild when he arrived at the community hall in Wroxeter at
the end of the parade Saturday afternoon. However the youngsters were more eager
to talk abnut what they would like to find in their stockings on, Christmas morning, as
well as to find out what Santa had in that big bag.
Library group discusses
goals at second meeting
Wingham's new "Friends
of the Library" group held a
second meeting last Thurs-
day night in the courtroom at
the town hall. The topic of
discussion was short and
long-range goals for the
Wingham library.
Stella Dabrowski,
chairman of the meeting,
opened by asking the ap-
proximately .one dozen
people assembled what the
library means to them and
how can they commit
themselves to a new library
in Wingham.
is important to set
goals," said Mrs.'
Dabrowski. She suggested
the group's 'short-range goal
should be a new. library with
more space.
The old fire hall has been
suggested as a possible new
location for the -library,'
which is presently located in
cramped quarters at the
town hall. The final decision
will be up to town council
though, Mrs. Dabrowski
said, and she has not been
informed if council,has made
any decision about the
matter.
Someone suggested that
people in the community
could donate their skills to
cut renovation costs. Other
ideas discussed were holding
a book sale early in the new
year and possibly charging
group members a mem-
bership fee.
Another question which
was asked was "Where are.
libraries going in the
future?"
One man suggested in-
corporating a spot in the new
library strictly for com-
puters and John Mann
• suggested the libary could
•even lend computer software
at some later date.
One suggestion was to
retain the present library as
a resource library for those
wanting to do research or
even turn it into a children's
library.
Mrs. Dabrowski closed the
meeting by thanking
everyone for attending at
such a busy time of .,year.
Coffee was served and a
social time followed.
