Day Centre News
By Pam Williams
Over the next few weeks,
your time probably will be
spent .celebrating the joys of
the season. What are ,you
going to do in January? If
you are someone living in the
northern region of Huron
County or the southern
townships of Bruce County
and are homebound due to a
lack of transportation, age or
a disability, then you can
start the new year here at
the day centre.
AFor some - people the
winter months seem quite
long, so the centre could be a
possible solution. It provides
a full -course noon meal,
recreational and; social
activities and the chance to
meet new friends and get
reacquainted with old ones.
Transportation to anicl
from the centre is provided.
The decision is yours. It's a
great way to beat the winter
blues. Call 357-1440 or 357-
1445 for more details.
Our annual Christmas
party was held today,
Wednesday..A huge thank
you goes out to everyone who
helped make the. party a
special day. Mrs. Catherine
Forsyth, Keith and ,Mary
McLaughlin, Jeanette
Wardrop and Ethel and
Harry.Gerrie were our chief
turkey roasters and there
were dozens of people who
made pies, helped serve and
cleaned up, as well as those
who provided entertainment.
Without the help of all these
people, we would not have
been able to provide such a
great party for over 100
people.
Last Thursday several
classes from the Wingham
Public School entertained at
the centre. Mr. Martin's
class provided some great
music on . their recorders.
Mrs. Scheeler conducted the
senior choir, which sang a
repertoire of songs of ttie
season. We appreciate the
entertainment these
students provided.
The seniors day centre will
be closed the week of Dec. 24
to 28. The first program of
the new year wipe Jan. 2.
The first foot c mic will be
held Jan. 3. Please'. let us
know if you plan to attend.
We wish you the peace, joy
ttnd happiness of the
Christmas season and the
New Year from all of us at
the day centre for the,
homebound. '
