Service Tuesday
for James Moir
Funeral service was held
Tuesday morning at 10 for
James Clarence Moir of RR
2, Wingham, who passed
away suddenly at his home
in Turnberry Township on
Friday, November 23. Rev.
Stan Soltysik conducted the
mass at Sacred Heart
Roman Catholic Church and
interment followed in Sacred
Heart Cemetery. T1' a Mc-

Wingham, was in charge of
arrangements.
Pallbearers were Joseph
-King, George King, William
McCormick, Robert
McKague, Murray Mc-
Dougall and Elgin Johnston.
Mr. Moir was a son of the
late John Moir and Mabel
Goy and was born in Turn -
berry on April 24, 1925. He
was predeceased by his wife,
the former Donalda B.
Robertson, in 1981.
Left to mourn his passing
are two daughters, Faye
Moir and Mrs. Jim (Mary)
Longdo, both of Wingham;
two sons, John of RR 1,
Lucknow, and Paul, Wing -
ham; five grandchildren;
one sister, Mrs. Thomas
(Jean) O'Malley, Teeswater,
and one brother, Joseph
Moir, Barrie.

named president
of Bluevale group
BLUEVALE — The No-
vember meeting of the Blue -
vale seniors, with 43 in at-
tendance, was presided over
by Mrs. Mel Craig, vice
president. Routine matters
of business were dispensed
with and some plans were
made for the coming year.
The Christmas dinner party
for members will be in the
Presbyterian church on
December 3 at 8 p.m.,
followed by entertainment
and a gift exchange of
one -dollar value, in the hall.
The nominating com-
mittee presented the
following slate of officers for
1985: president, Mrs. Mel
Craig; vice president, Mrs.
Bert Garniss; secretary,
Mrs. William Peacock;
treasurer, Mrs. Jack
Jenkins.
There will be no open
euchre party in December.
Adjournment of business,
followed by euchre, resulted
in prizes being awarded to
high scorers Mrs. Les
Greenaway and Jim
Johnston; low, Mrs. Ross
Turvey and Bert Garniss;
lucky, Mrs. Stan Moffatt and
Mel Craig. Hostesses were

DrRichard J. Irwin
dies in ritish Columbia
A native of East
Wawanosh Township, Dr.
Richard Joseph (Dick) Ir-
win, Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine, passed away
Thursday, November 15, in
Abbotsford, British Colum-
bia, the day before his 63rd
birthday. His death followed
a lengthy battle with illness.
Dr. Irwin was a son of Mrs.
Ella Irwin of Bray Lodge,
Wingham, and the late
Herson Irwin. He attended
SS No. 11, East Wawanosh,
and the Wingham High
School, then graduated from
the Ontario Veterinary
College, Guelph. in 1951.
Prior to that he had seen his
country go to war and he
joined the RCAF in 1940,
serving as a pilot in the
Coastal Command on both
coasts, in Iceland and in
Europe.
Dr. Irwin practised as a
veterinarian in Flesherton
from 1951 to 1953 and in the
Fraser Valley area of British
Columbia from 1953 'until ill
health forced him to retire in
1983. From 1953 until 1958, he
managed the B.C. Artificial
Insemination Centre in
Milner and from 1958 until
1971 he operated the Milner
Veterinary Clinic. His
Aldergrove practice, which
he operated from 1971 until
last year, specialized in the
treatment of cattle.
Dr. Irwin was a member of
the United Church, the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch No.
6, Cloverdale, B.C., and the
B.C. and Fraser Valley
Veterinarians' Association.
Left to mourn his passing,
besides his mother, are his
wife', the former Greta
Wrigley of Victoria, B.C.,
whom he married in
December of 1945; four
daughters, Donna, Janice,
Joan and Cathy, and their
husbands, all living in
Langley, B.C.; and four
grandchildren, all in
Langley. There are four
sisters, Mrs. Alex (June)
Nethery of Burlington, Mrs.
Gibson (Gwen) mstrong,
London, Mrs. Scott(Audrey)
Reid, Wingham, and Mrs.
Hugh (Barbara) Laviolette,
Scarborough; and two
brothers, Jim Irwin of
Dunnville and Bill Irwin,
Goderich. He was predeceas-
ed by his father and a
brother, Stanley.
Funeral service was held
Monday, November 19, at
the Henderson Funeral
Home, Langley, with Rev.
Fred Kingston conducting.
Interment followed in
Langley Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Reid of
Wingham, their daughter,
Mrs. Pamela Deichert of
Keady, and Mrs. Barbara
Laviolette of Scarborough
attended the funeral.
In lieu of flowers,
donations were accepted to
the Langley unit of the
Canadian Cancer Society.

The Tunnberry Ladies' Aid
group enjoyed a potluck
dinner last Tuesday at the
home of Mrs. Gordon
Mundell. Following the
meal, a sale was held with
Mrs. Alex MacTavish
proving a very capable
auctioneer.

STREET PARKING
Due to municipal snow removal operations,
notice is hereby given that the bylaw governing
the parking of cars on town streets during the
winter months (Dec. 1 to April 1) will be strictly
enforced.
All vehicles must be removed from town
streets, from roadways of the municipality, bet-
ween the hours of 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Violators v411 be prosecuted or will be re-
quired to beat the cost of having their vehicle
towed away.
The owner of any such parked vehicle will be
liable for any damage to the said vehicle or to
snow plow equipment.
Notice Is also given that the fine structure
for the above parking violation has been in-
creased to $10.00 first offense and $25.00
second offense. All parking fines other than
parking meters previously at $3.00 have
been raised to $7.50.
