Two Mitchell young men had a
narrow escape from drowning on
Thursday, afternoon, both going
through the ice on the mill pond in- •
to about eight feet of water. 'Wilfred
Whiting, son .of Mr. and Mrs. Thos.
Whiting, went through the thin ice
while skating•on.the pond- and Arthur
Biowes also.}vent into' the cold water
while attempting a rescue.'Wiifred•

through the ice when he was making

rescuers worked at top speed and

ty, but not before he had been in the ..
