the finals Nov. 1.0. Team members are: (back) Dave Cowman, Steve Hallahan, Bill

REMEMBRANCE DAY
Hush your voices, bow your
heads
A moment of silence to
remember the dead.
To recall their courage;
remember their pain
As they realized they'd never
return home again.
I hush my voice, I bow my
head
I take some time •to
remember the dead
But I cannot remember; I
cannot recall;
I know nothing • of battles,
nothing at all.
So I think of how lucky I am
to be me •
And to live in this wonderful
Canada... free.
The freedom to grow, the
freedom to change,
The freedom to live in my
• home on the range.
And while I am thinking I
begin to feel
How cruel it was, how
terrible and real.
That those men lived, that
those men died
So that I could in peace and
in freedom abide.
I think of this gift, I think of
this treasure,
Which was bought for me at
a cost beyond measure.
1 think of these things for I
cannot recall,
The great pain of war and
the horrow of it all.

periods, trailing 14-12 at the
half. However their offense
ground to a halt in the second
half and the final score was
28-12 for South Huron. •
During the regular. season,
Madill had compiled a
record of five wins and one
tie and the Mustangs went on
to defeat perennially power-
ful Goderich 15-6 in a semi-
final game which also was
played in a downpour .on a
wet field.
The team, .coached by
Larry Lane and Murray
McLennan, expressed ap-
preciation to Zehrs and K-
F'oods for providing pop and
chips for the team party and
also to Pepi's Pizza for the
discounted pizzas.

Commencement
Uncle Brian wants you
As it's near Remembrance
Day, I though it would be
fitting to question the
students of Madill to see if
they felt conscription should
be compulsory in Canada.
If Prime Minister Brian
Mulroney passed through
Parliament a bill stating that
every 18 -year-old male must
serve two years of military
training, what would their
reactions be?
For purely selfish reasons,
the girls at Madill said
"Forget ,, it,': and the
majority of the male
population tended to agree
as they know now that war
isn't all that glorious and
"full of adventure and
heroism".
Some Madillers pointed
out the fact of self defence.
Better 'to be safe than sorry'?
Maybe, but the fact Canada
is so "anti -war" is what sets
us apart from the other
major nations. Also, I can't
help but think, and our
politicians agree, that one
nuclear push of "the button"
would finish the world as we
know it, so what would we be
preparing the armies for?
Although today's gener-
ation is so hesitant to get
involved in militarism,
we realize we owe a debt of
gratitude to those who fought
in the world wars, those who
gave us the chance to decide.
