Returned as president is Mrs. Doug Bunker. Vice presidents are Mrs. J. W. Daunt and Mrs. Bill Sothern; Mrs. Shelley is secretary and Mrs. Wally Nixon treasurer. Others in positions of leadership for the group are: cards for the sick, Mrs. Bruce Sothern; card secretary, Mrs. Rowley; pianist, Miss Elva Foster; Seniors enjoy slides FORDWICH — The regu- lar montly meeting) of the Fordwich Senior Citizens Club opened with the presi- dent, Mrs. William Wilson, welcoming all members and visitors. Members birthdays were celebrated as well as two 50th wedding anniversaries, those for Mr. and Mrs. George Bartman and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nickel. It was announced the Christmas dinner will be held on Dec. 5 in the hall at 6 p.m. The November card party will be held Nov. 16 at 8:30 p.m. Mrs. Wilson gave a humorous reading, taken from the "Voice". Mrs. Wray Cooper's group was in charge of the pro- gram. Mrs. Cooper gave sev- eral short readings. Rev. Marzec gave the meditation on "Peace". Minnie McElwain and Mrs. George Richards sang a duet, "How Great Thou Art". Mr. and Mrs. Don Brown who had taken a trip to New- foundland this. year showed slides on this province with an excellent commentary being given_by Mrs. Brown.. On Nov. 12 members visited the nursing home. visiting sick and shutins, Mrs. Bruce Armstrong, Mrs, Jim Vittie, Mrs. Emerson Ferguson, Mrs. B. Sothern, Misses Elva and Ethna Foster, Mrs. Nellie Sim- mores; bale conveners, Mrs.. Harold Foster, Mrs. Everett Armstrong; program committee, Mrs. Ferguson, Mrs. Elsie Strong, Mrs. Brian Doubledee, Mrs. R. Strong; group leaders, M"s. Dave Dinsmore, Mrs. Jack Douglas, Mrs. Bill Sothern; auditors, Mrs. Douglas, Mrs. Hector Browne; nominating committee, Mrs. Rowley, Mrs. Dinsmore, Mrs. Tim Bunker. Mrs. Doug Bunker presided for the meeting, opening with prayer and a welcome to all. Roll call was answered by 18 members with a verse on Remem- brance Day. Mrs. Rowley "Peace" is for worship FORDWICH — The wor- ship centre was tastefully ar- ranged to represent peace when the afternoon unit off the United Church Women met in the church hall. Miss M. McElwain opened the meeting with a hymn, followed by a poem on peace. The roll call, "Name a world leader", was answered by 22 members. The group was , reminded about the bale and the box for old glasses. It was also decided that the White Gift offering next month be given to Children's Aid. The worship and program were in charge of Mrs. Harold Madgett, Mrs. George Pittendreigh and Miss McElwain. A hymn was sung, followed by a prayer for peace. One minute's silence ' was observed for those who served and died for this country. A poem written by a school • child, "What The Poppy Means to Me", was read, followed by the reading of Psalm 46. It was announced that a new guest book has been ordered for the church and bales are to be packed this week. A thank -you letter was received from St. Monica House for the gifts that were sent. Mrs. Wellington 'grave will be in charge of Christmas gifts for shutins. Plans were made for the Christmas dinner and for a banquet at the church, for which the group will cater this Thursday. The meeting closed with prayer, after which Mrs. Ruth Gray gave a very in- teresting demonstration on floral arrangements for all occasions and Christmas. A corsage was won by Mrs. Nixon. Lunch was served by Mrs. Marian Kirby and Miss Elva Foster, assisted by the hostess. the theme service The ladies chose as their study Methodism and talked about the wonderful challenge handed down to the church when it became The United Church of Canada. They spoke about missions and told of how the gospel was brought to Canada by the Methodists. They compared this to today's Mission and Service program and told the members of all the help it gives people. Rev. Cy Marzec closed the meeting with prayer and an hour of fellowship was en- joyed. Birthday party held for twins BRUSSELS — A double birthday party for Jolene and Jennifer Weber of RR 4, ' Brussels, was held Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Brussels, library. Eighteen. young guests attennded and they played numerous games. Winners of the games were Stacey and Christa Hunter and Kurri Foxton. The children then sat down to hot dogs, French fries and birthday cake. The helpers ,were Darlene Wilson, Doris Mitchler and Sharon Weber, the girls' mother. Jolene and Jennifer then opened their gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Greig of Listowel spent a few days at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Wright. Jack Underwood of Guelph visited last Saturday with Mrs. Earl Underwood. Mrs. Ila Newton visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. John Laundre and Mrs. Alice Newton of Oshawa and at- tended the Hart -Wilson wedding in the Kingsview United Church, Oshawa, last Saturday. Mrs. Stella Grice of Harriston visited Sunday with Mrs. ElmerFarrish. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moir of.
