In 1979 there were 135 re-
ported cases of trichinosis in
the United States. One pa-
tient, an 82 -year-old Laotian
immigrant, died - the first
reported death . due to this
disease since 1975, Trichi-
nosis is usually contracted
by eating insufficiently
cooked meat from an infect-
ed hog.
