Heather Cloakey, daughter
of Ivy Cloakey, and Peter
Gatze Brommer Jr., son of
Mr. and Mks. Peter Brom-
mer . Sr., were rited in
marriage by Rev. Ken
Bauman. Don Vair was
organist and Mrs. Vair sang
"The Wedding Prayer"
during the ceremony.
The bride was given in
marriage by her brother,
Doug Cloakey, and chose a
floor -length gown with full
skirt falling into a chapel
train, cameo seed pearl. trim
on the bodice, standup collar
and long puffy sleeves with
lace cuffs. She wore a small
pearl -trimmed hat and
carried a crescent-shaped
bouquet of shocking pink
lilies, spider plant leaves and
pink and white lace ribbon.
A close friend of the bride,
Brenda Gordon of RR 2,
Blyth, was her honor at-
tendant. She wore a floor -
length gown of light pink
with lace -trimmed bodice
and sleeves. She carried a
white lace fan with pink
carnations, roses, gladioli
and baby's breath, and wore
matching flowers in her hair.
The bridesmaid, Sharon
Bondi of RR 4, Brussels, a
sister of the bride, wore a
similar gown and also
carried a fan with floral
arrangement. The, bride's

Brussels, wore a white short
dress with lace trim and a
pink sash and carried a lace
basket containing flowers
similar to those in the at-
tendants' bouquets.
Joe Phelan of RR 3, Blyth,
was best man. Ushering
guests from London, Whitby,
Ancaster, Teeswater and
Exeter, were Perry
Brommer, RR 3, Blyth, and
Doug Cloakey, RR 4,
Brussels.
At the reception which
followed at the Wingham
Legion HallAlte bride's
mother received guests,
choosing as her apparel a
light green street -length
dress with a yellow and
white orchid corsage
highlighted with sprigs of
baby's breath. The groom's
mother chose a silver street -
length dress complemented
by a corsage of red roses.
Mr. and Mrs. Brommer
will reside at RR 5, Clinton.

The bride's gown was
fashioned of silk organza
over silk jersey and featured.
a fitted bodice and long
sleeves of lace with a three -
tiered ruffled skirt and train.
A lace-covered,brimmed hat
and waist -Length 'veil
completed the bride's en-
semble. Her bouquet was
arranged on a Bible and was
composed of deep blue roses
and rosebuds, baby blue
rosebuds, pale pink roses
and stephanotis.
The matron of honor was
Mrs. Beverley Beyers-
bergen, RR 2, Lucknow, a
friendf the bride. The
bridesmaids were Miss
Kimberley Laidlaw of RR 3,
Wingham, the bride's sister,
and Miss Heather Hackett of
Listowel, a friend of the
bride. The bride's attendants
wore baby blue taffeta full-
length gowns accented by
sashes at the waist. They

McEwen was the organist.

with lighted_ candelabras,
decorated with roses and
carnations in burgundy, pink
and white.
The bride was given in
marriage by her father. She
wore a handmade gown of
polyester satin, trimmed
with Spanish lace and ap-
pliqued with seed pearls. Leg
of mutton sleeves, tapered at
the wrists were also of
Spanish lace. A chapel train,
trimmed with tiers of lace
fell from a low waistline and
her fingertip veil was secur-
ed by a wreath of silk flow-
ers. •
She carried a bouquet of
red roses and white, . gar-
denias, fashioned after her
Mother's wedding bouquet.
The maid of honor was
Miss Sandy Merkley of
Wroxeter. The bridesmaids
were Heather Renwick and
Jill Renwick (sisters of the

groom's brother, and the
ushers were Steve Webster
of Seaforth, a brother-in-law
of the groom, and Ray Ulch
of Dungannon, a friend of the
groom. The ring bearer,
Ryan Webster of Seaforth, is -
the groom's nephew.
A supper and reception
followed the ceremony at the
Blyth Community Centre.

It's hard to believe the
sufsime is almost over and

att the centre: However,
many interesting events are
just beginning here.
In the afternoon of Aug. 30,
we are going to air last Blyth
plrtY, of the summer.. It is
`Country Hearts" and
a„:,ictll There still are
some ticks available at a
summer discount price, so
call 357-1440 if you are in-
terested.
The Clinton day centre will
be visiting this Thursday. We
will be showing an Abbott
and Costello film in the af-
ternoon.
A foot clinic is •scheduled
for Aug. 30 from 10 a.m. to 12
noon. If anyone is interested
in coming to the clinic,
please call the centre.

be the guest speaker next
Afternoon unit hosts
special birthday party
BELGRAVE — The
August meeting of the
Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W.
took the form of a birthday
party for persons 80 years
and older.
There were 17 special
guests aged 80 to 95 seated at
small tables facing the
larger lace -covered table on
which was a floral
arrangement of larkspur and
pink candles.

reunion
BELGRAVE — The 23rd
McBurney reunion was held
at Belgrave W.I. Hall Sun-
day afternoon with about 70
present.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Smith
of London were president
and secretary for this year.
The next reunion will also
be held in Belgrave hall the
third Sunday in August with
Mr. and Mrs. Carman
McBurney of London as
president and secretary.
There was extra hand
shaking and new acquain-
tances made, with guests
present from St. John's,
N.B., Sawyerville, Quebec,
Ottawa, Toronto, Cass City,
Michigan, Phoneix, Arizona,
St. Thomas, . London, Kome-
ka, Goderich, Seaforth,
towel, Neustaedt and sur-
rounding area.

with a piano solo.
Alison Coultes and Ruth
Higgins, unaccompanied,
sang several songs they
learned at summer camp.
Mrs: Cecil Coulter read the
poem "The Patchwork
Quilt" and "A, Newfie
Mother Writes Her Son".
Mrs. Bolt expressed her
appreciation to all who had
taken part and asked the
friends to form a circle
around the special guests for
singing "Happy Birthday"
and the blaming.
Howard Wilkinson and
Mrs, Earl Anderson cut the
birthday cakes. Cakeoand ice
cream and a cup of tea
followed by a socia] hour
concluded the afternoon.
Mrs. Ella Irwin expressed
thanks on behalf of the
special guests.

Institute for the Blind will be

There will be no program
at the centre Tuesday, Sept.
4, dile to the federal election.
This year we will once
again be having a flea
market and it will be held
Sept. 29. We are renting
tables and call the centre if
you are interested.,
Also, if anyone is in-
terested, we now have an
excellent book entitled
Growing Younger which is
available for borrowing.
This book has diet tips,
exercises and other health
care ideas and we picked it
up at a workshop in Kit-
chener last week.
We remind our board
members that there is a
Meeting this Monday, Aug.
27, at1:30 p.m.
If anyone has any good
craft ideas for Christmas,
would you please bring those
ideas to the centre. We will
be starting our Christmas
crafts soon and we're in-
terested in adding a few
