Death of Nelson Armstrong
leaves void many Mos
The death of ``Charles'
Nelson Armstrong of 254
Catherine Street, Wingham,
on Saturday, July 21, has left
a void in the lives- of his
family members and those
who -were privileged to be his
friends. His death occurred
at the Wingham and District
Hospital and at 79 years of
age, following a lengthy
illness.

passes suddenly
A well-known resident of
the Brussels area, Louis
Augustine Blake of RR 2,
Brussels, passed away
suddenly on Sunday, July 15,
kt,. Wingham and District.
�pitat He was in his 60th
year.
Louis Blake was a son of
the late William -and Mary
Blake. He is survived by his
wife, the former Jean Kirk-
conneIl; two daughters, Mrs.
Jack (Mary Ann) Van-
denHengel of Owen Sound
and Mrs. Raymond (Faye)
Peel of Gorrie, and one
grandchild. There are three
sisters, Mrs. Guy (Veronica)
Griffiths of Dorval, Quebec,
Mrs. Maitland (Helen)
Burchill, Oakville, and Sister
Herman Jdseph Margaret of
London. He was predeceased
by his brother Bill.
Friends paid their respects
at the Brussels Chapel of the
M. L. Watts Funeral Homes
until Wednesday, July 18,
when removal was made to
St. Ambrose Roman Catholic
Church, Brussels, for Mass
of the Christian Burial at 11
a.m., conducted by Rev.
Stan Soltysik. .Interment
followed in St. Ambrose
Roman Catholic Cemetery.

nephews, Paul, David, Greg
and Edward Griffiths and

We, Joanne Kraemer and
Mike McIntosh, would like to
thank our family and friends
for the wonderful party they
held for us at Moorefield on
July 13, 1984. Special thanks
to some special people who
worked so hard to sell tickets
and prepared a wonderful
meal to a capacity -crowd. It
is all deeply appreciated and
will be remembered.

resident passes
Ethel Ellen Meads, the
former Ethel Chandler,
passed peacefully to rest in
her Savior Whom she served
and witnessed for, on
Tuesday, July 17, in Toronto,
in her 85th year.
Born in Turnberry
Township, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William
Chandler, Ethel attended SS
No. 6, Turnberry, the local
high school and George
Spotton Business College,
Wingham, going to Toronto
in 1918 as a secretary in a
law office. In 1926 she
married her late husband,
Robert Oliver Meads of
Flesherton. Of this union
were born one son, Rev.
Harold Meads, missionary in
Fortalazea, Brazil, and one
daughter Lillian, Mrs. Clare
Robinson of Thistletown,
Ontario, who survive, with
six grandchildren and two
great-grandsons.
As Ethel had requested,
Miss Elizabeth Greenaway,
graduate of Moody Bible
Institute of Chicago, sang
"And Can It Be That I Should
Gain?". Her pastor, Rev. J.
G. Freeland of Richview
Baptist Church, Ii:onducted
the service.
Pallbearers were ,,three
grandsons, Ross Meads,
,Jeffrey Robinson and
Richard Minderlein, and
three friends, Gordon and
Jonathan Greenaway and
John McIntyre who, laid her
remains to rest in Glendale
Memorial Gardens, Etobi-
coke.
Of seven sisters, only three
remain, Mrs: Bertha
Niergarth, Mrs. Margaret
MacKersie and Mrs. Mary
Stapleton of'Wingham.

"Army,,, as he was knnown to
his friends, started with
II,'dro onconstruction in
Stayner until joining the
Wingham area in 1944. He
became a line foreman , in
1946 'hntil promotion to
"Lineman, Special" in 1965.
He retired in 1970 with 32
Hydro years to his credit.
Army was involved with
local sports for many years,
most recently as an
executive member of the
BPs fastball club and the
Royals hockey team.
Left to mourn his passing
are his wife, the former
Viola Stover; two daughters,
Mrs. Ron (Shirley) Zimmer
and Edna Mae, both of
Wingham; one son, Robert,
of Wingham; three grand-
children and two great
grandchildren. There is one
sister, Mrs. Harold (Helen)
Flewelling of Wasaga Beach:
He was predeceased by a
brother Cecil and a sister,
Mrs. Clifford (Myrtle)
Springs.
The late Nelson Armstrong
rested at The Currie -Walker
Funeral Home, Wingham,
until Tuesday when service
was conducted at 1:30.
He was a member of
St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church, Wingham, and in the
abGence of his minister, his
funeral service was' con-
ducted by Rev. Robert Shaw
of Teeswater. Final resting
place is Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gord
Welwgod, Ken Saxton, Alan
Harrison, Gordon Leggatt,
George Drehmann and Ivan
Gardner. Harold Walsh
carried floral tributes to the
graveside.

shower was held last week
for Pauline Dustow,
daughter, of, Mr. and Mrs.
Everett Dustow, at the
McIntosh Church. The
hostesses. were Nancy Smith
and Sally Harper.
Mrs. Smith welcomed the
bride-to-be and extended
best wishes to her. She also
thanked the large group
assembled for attending. A
quiz, "The Bridal. Alphabet"
was conducted and then the
stage was set for a hilarious
fashion show featuring the
most outlandish wedding
fashions of the year.
Mrs. Smith was the
commentator and Cathy
Mulvey', as Mrs. Player,
provided the appropriate
piano selections throughout
the show. Cheryl Busby was
the press photographer and
Dianne Nickel ushered in the
models.

for coming to the shower.
Lunch was served by the
hostess and the smorgasbord
table was centred with two
beautifully -decorated cakes,
decorated by Grace Busby,
for the occasion.
