Chris Sakasov placed fifth in the javelin competition with a distance of 33.98 m. Mike Cameron was seventh in the 100 m hurdles with a time of 16.95 seconds. The 200 acres of rolling hills and water -filled lowlands was purchased by the MVCA in 1978 for $210,000. The Ministry of Natural Resources con- tributed $160,000 toward the purchase, leaving the authority to raise the remaining $'0,000. The Maitland Con- servation Foundation con- ducted fund-raising efforts and Charles Sauriol of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the only national non-profit organization of its kind devoted solely to preserving environmentally important lands, was in- strumental in contacting prospective donors. Through his efforts, Suncor agreedto donate the final $5,000 required to complete the purchase. This was presented to -the MVCA in a ceremony at Lake Wawanosh on July 12, at- tended by representatives from the authority, the foundation, Suncor and the Nature Conservancy. The lake property, located just south of the 10th Con- cession of West Wawanosh, 33/4 miles east of Huron County Road 1, consists of hardwood a'hd mixed bush surrounding a 60 -acre man- made lake. The property lends itself to a multitude,of outdoor education and recreation activities, in- cluding wildlife, fishing, picnicking and canoeing. In 1979 he founded the International ° Christian Bikers Association. He was in attendance at a rally of ICBA members during the weekend at the farm of Larry and Shirley Bott of RR 1, Gorrie. With him are his wife Judi, and their children, Rebbeca Lynn 3, Casey 6 and Aaron 7. Over 200 people and 140 motorcycles attended the rally.
