Vanestra P.S. to be studied again The Huron County .Board of Education will be studying Vanastra Public School for the second time this year, this time with an eye to either buying and renovating the Conestoga College build- ing or sending the students to other area schools. At a special meeting July 9, the board learned that the Ministry of Education has refused to fund improve- ments to the school this year. The ministry indicated funds would be restricted for the foreseeable future and sug- gested teat if the board wants to purchase the pro- perty, it should place the project in high priority for 1985, in placInThe purchase on the high priority list, the board would have to justify the need for the school by *•,. supplying five-year enroll - Ment projections for Vanas- 4' tra and three other schools in the area. Those schools are Clinton Public School, Sea - forth Public School and Huron Centennial Public School in Brucefield. The board has for several years rented rooms in the Conestoga College owned building. A community ac- cornmodation review com- mittee report earlier this year suggested the board purchase the building. The committee's suggestions in eluded tearing down the pie- senepublic school wing of the building for $10,000 and reno- vating the rest of the build- ing at about $200,000. The board's administra- tive staff will start an impact study to discover what would happen if the ,board cannot buy the building and what could be done at the building with ministry funding and without ministry funding.
