T l to when L gtheir daughter, Pena, Hazel, was united in marriage to Mr. Frederick R. Rathwell, son 01 Mr. and Mrs. John Rathwell. The cere- mony was performde:at high b g V Rev. R . A. Lr dy in the e presence of the immediate relatives. The bride charmingly• gowned in ivory flat crepe bridal veil, 4a l ib a bouquet of Ophelia and Sweetheart roses, was escorted by her father to .the strains Of Lohengiin's= ;wedding march, charmingly rendered by Miss Edith Hunt, and took her place be- fore a bane of fern and flowers Af- ter receiving _ congratulations and good wishes, the guests sat down to, a sumptuous luncheon, served in the dining room where the color scheme was carried out in pink and white. The young couple left for a short honeymoon trip by motor among showers of confetti and good wishes. On their return they will reside on. the groom's farm near •Brucefield.. Guests from a distance for the wed- ding were: Mrs. D. S. Blair and lit- tle daughter Mary, of Saskatchewan; Miss Mary Blair, of Grand Eap.ids, Mich.- and Mr. 1-larold Rathwell, of London. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sproat have re- turned from a pleasant ten days' mo- tor trip to Toronto, Niagara Falls and Buffalo. - Mr. and Mrs, John 'Baird, of De- troit, were visitor's for a couple of days at the house of Mr. and Mrs. James Bowe;-. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hay, Miss Jean McLean and Mr. Alex. Sinclair are spending a few clays at Niagara Fa' visiting Miss McLean's sister, Mrs. Wm. Hay. Miss M. It will be sad to many of our older residents to learn of the death of a former Well known resident of Zur- ich, in the person of Eliza. Snell, rel- ict of the late Win. Snell, Who died at the .Soldier's. Home, Grand Rapids Mich., on Friday, August 31st at the age of 75 years. For the past feiv year the deceased had been in very poor health and, her death was not unexpected. Mrs. Snell was born in New Hamburg and came to Zurich when quite young and continued to reside here until about -35 years ago, when she and her husband litoved'to Sand Lake, and after her hus'band's: death, four years ago, she went to live at Grand Rapids. She is surviv- ed by one daughter, Mrs. Paut. of Cleveland, Ohio, and three brothers:,; Jacob, of Ayton; John, of Zurich and Henry, of Waterloo. . Interment . in Sand Lake cemetery-. An auto accident occurred. -at the Chisellxurst corner on Thursday' last about .one o'clock. Mr. •Harry Tyn- doll, of Seaforth, was driving north and Win. Cole was going west when the two cars collided. One car -was turned over twice while the other car was upset. Mrs. Tyndall lied the misfortune to have her arm brok- en but the others luckily escaped with :a few minor outs and bruises. The cars were badly wrecked. The e top was crushed and one side scrat- ched and dented. It was brought to A. F. McEwen's garage where it is being repaired.., DEATH OF MRS. FORD On Saturday evening Mrs. Michael Ford, of Windsor. who was visiting, .at the home of Mrs. T. J. Berry, 01 this; village, who was just preparing to go out to tea with a relative, sud- denly fell to the floor dead. Mrs. -Ford was in her 86th year and a• wonderfully active woman for that age, and was going around every day visiting and calling on relatives and friends. Mrs. Ford has been living with an unmarried sou and' her dau- ghters in Windsor, and 'was acconi- panied by,her son Thomas. The 'de- ceased was well and favorably known here by the older residents, and ivas highly;•,r`espected. -The remains were taken frons here son Monday morning .for interment in the family plot and were accompanied by her neice, •Mrs. Bolton and Edward Berry..
