LIBERAL CONVENTION FRIDAY
A Liberal convention for the selec-
tion of a candidate to contest South.
Huron in the coming Provincial elec-
tion will be held in Hensall, on Fri-
day, 13th inst. Several names are
being prominently mentioned to car-
ry the. Liberal standard, among them
being 3. T. Morgan, who was the Lib-
eral candidate in the t
J. Preeter, of Zurich; 0. Geiger, of
Hensall;:T, G. Shillinglaw and D. F.
McGregor, of Tuckersmith. Maj.,. ol-
niie,_of Windsor; will be the princi-
ple speaker at the Convention.
MUSICAL HONORS
At the recent examination held by
the London College of Music, Eng.,
Miss Elsie Knight, of the London
Road, South, was successful in pass-
ing the tests required to be enrolled
as a graduate. This graduation con-
kers the exclusive right of appending
the letters A.L.C.M. and the privilege
of wearing the cap and gown of the
college. Miss Knight is the 7th grad
nate prepared by our local teacher,
Mrs. Harrison Gambrill during her
residence in this community: The
London College is oiie of the finest
and largest patronized colleges in
England, and was the first to intro -i
duce the system•'of universal examin-
ation, which example was rapidly fol-
lowed by other institutions the world
wide. No fewer than 1,323 candi-
dates were entered at one centre, of
whom 1,118 passed There are over

The 3 -act comedy, "Not Such a
Fool. as he Looks," put on in the O-
pera, House, under the auspices of>
the Trivia Memorial Sunday School,
drew two packed houses. The play
was billed for Wednesday night but
the housewas sold out early and it
was repeated Thursday night, when
the crowd was equally as large. The
play was humorous and drew forth
rounds of laughter, keeping the large
audiences in excellent spirits.. The
young people took their parts well.
The play was under the direction of
Mrs. N. J. Dore. The cast of char-
