There was a poor family called Hicken. The Hicken family hardly had any food or money. What were they going to do for gifts for their little boy and girl. Mr. and Mrs. Hicken's tried to think of a gift for Terry and Laurie. Mr. Hickens asked the children what they wanted for Christmas as a gift. Mr. Hickens"said, "We can only buy on gift, between you, you must decide what you want for a gift from your mom and me." So Terry and Laurie got together to decide what they wanted, They decided to get a dog because they always wanted one. They told their mom and dad that they wanted a dog for a gift. So the day before Christmas Mrs. Hicken went out to buy a dog for Terry and Laurie. That was the only gift that Terry and•Laurie got that year for Christmas. Darlene Haggitt Age 13 Brookside School THE TRUE MEANING OF *CHRISTMAS • Do you really know what Christmas means? It doesn't just mean getting presents. It doesn't just mean getting a holiday. It mean's when Jesus was born so he could die for us. Long long ago 2012 years ago to be exact there was a baby born to -Mary and "Joseph in a Manger. This was the baby Jesus. Many wise men and shepherds came to see Jesus': They were guided by a bright star. Jesus had come to teach the world about God: But, the main, reason was so he could die for us on the cross. When he died ,he was 33 years old. This happened 1979 years ago. The world was sinful so Jesus had to bare our sins by dying for us. That is the true meaning of Christmas. It is alright to get gifts and enjoy the holidays but remember what the true meaning of Christmas is. Just remember -a little bit how Jesus was born long long ago. Your friend, Jenny Jenny Cunningham 8 Robertson The night before Christmas we were all huddled around our Christmas tree talking about the presents we wanted. There was nothing under the Christmas tree yet. My mom said Santa Claus forgot to come to our house. But secretly I knew there was no Santa Claus and that the presents she ordered for us had arrived late. The next day was Christmas and there was still nothing under the Christmas tree. My brother and sister wanted to cry because they were so disappointed. In fact my whole family was disappointed. After lunch we all ,went to Kitchener to buy some presents. We had to stay in the car so we couldn't see the presents. 'When we got home 'we saw a big box in front of our door. The Christmas presents have arrived. We all had a merry Christmas that year.
