Coal in his stocking
On Christmas eve one
year I saw Santa's old
black boot come down the
chimney, "Ho ho ho," he
said.
I sil fitly creptd and hid
behind the black chair,
"Oh boy," I whispered.
Then I saw Santa I
jumped out and said,
"Surprise."
He was shocked, "Go to
bed," he cried!
I sa_w___him put
something black in my
stocking. Vihen I got up in
the morning I saw a piece
of coal in my stocking. I
cried all morning. After I
cried I said, "Santa is
mean.
- My mom said he was
only joking. I looked back
in my stocking. There
was a big candy cane. I
was happy. Now I like
Santa.

THE MEANING OF
CHRISTMAS
On the 25th . day of
December, we celebrate_
the birth day of our Lord. •
On this day tire Messiah
was born to save our sins.
We celebrate this day to
show our thankfulness to
God for his love to us.-.___- •
Christmas is not all
Santa Claus and presents
as some - people think. A
gift -more precious than
ever received on
'Christmas Day, was
given to us 2,000 years
ago in a manger. This gift
was the Messiah, God's
only begotten son, who
came into V -ie world to
save our sins. This is the --
true meaning of
Christmas.

started about 2,000 years

Outrageous bas from Zeller
Mrs. Preston bustled
through the door and
sighed heavily. What a
hectic shopping spree
she'd had, pushing
through crowds and
encountering the one-
week -before -Christmas
rush. Mrs. Preston
stepped on Max's paw,
the -terrier yiped and
wallet and packages went
sprawling.
Max sheepishly retired
to his basket retrieving
the interesting wallet.
Max was delighted with
his fabulous find and
intrigued with smell. Max
hid his treasure under his
basket's cushion.
Mrs. - Preston groaned
while collecting strewn
packages. She shrieked
at outrageous bills from
Zellers and Woolco. Just
as Mrs. Preston was .
recuperating with a cup
of tea the doorbell rang.
The postman set C.O.D.
packages in the door-. He
tapped his foot im-
patiently as Mrs. Preston
searched frantically for
the wallet.
Mrs.` Preston hunted
feverishly in purses,
pockets, everywhere. She
desperately dialed her
husband's office
requesting his presence.
He fervently explained
to that conditions at the
office wouldn't permit
him home. Mrs. Preston
told of her plight to the
postman who continued
sighing and tapping his
foot.
This was too much Mrs.
Preston sank down in the
sofa and burst into tears.
Max tiptoed in the
livingroom gingerly with
the valuable wallet
clutched in his jaws.
Wagging his tail exur-
bura-ntly he dropped ,the
wallet at Mrs. Prestons
feet. Max was disap-
pointed after finding that
the wallet was lifeless
and tasteless.
Mrs. Preston hollered
in surprise and hurriedly
paid the impatient
postman.
Later as the family
gathered around the
dinner table, Mrs.
Preston smiled, Max is
right, we can enjoy the
festive season without
being spend -thrifts. Let's
simply enjoy ourselvg
by being jolly together.
Max grinned an his
eyes rested on the allet
on the desk.
