Here Are Some Jolly and Inexpensive
A PRACTICAL GIFT
MEANS SO MUCH MORE!
AND A PRACTICAL GIFT IS
USED ALL YEAR LONG
Toys are at the .ROM
Christmas morning
delights of yesteryear are
presented in a small
seasonal exhibit at the
Canadiana Building of
the Royal Ontario
Museum from December
1 to January 7, 1980.
The special display
features typical late 19th
century toys: dolls and
doll furniture, building.
blocks, gaily painted
model boats and pull
toys. One of the items in
the display is a "shoofly"
rocker; this two -side type
of rocking horse was first
made by an American
toymaker named Jesse
Crandall in 1859 and
proved. a popular and safe
rocker for toddlers.
Here's a new
party game
This • game can be
played with any number
of people. It's fun for the
whole family or just a few
friends, A word that
describes an action is
galled an 'adverb'. The
word 'slowly' is an ad-
verb because it describes
how a person walks or
talks. Nobody losesor.
win's in this game.
HOW TO PLAY
1. One person leaves
the room for a few
minutes.
2. The people in the
room think up an adverb.
3. The person who has
left the room, comes back
in and asks questions
about anything at all.
4. The other people
answer the questions and
talk in the manner of the
adverb.
5. The person who has
left the room tries to
guess what the adverb is.
Sometimes this takes a
very short • time,- and
sometimes it takes about
five -minutes.
EXAMPLE
The person who has
been picked to leave the'
room is you. While you
are out, the people in the
room think up the adverb
'sadly'. But you don't
know that because you
weren't there. When you
-come back into the room
you have to guess what
the adverb they chose is.
You ask a person any
question you want, such
as. "What do you think of
flowers?" That person
v411 answer you in the
saddest way possible; and
may even pretend to cry.
It won't take long to
guess the word "sadly".
Some adverbs that are
fun to,act out,and guess
are: crazily, angrily,
shyly, dreamily,
laughingly, and quickly.
.You can used any adverb
you like.
