Food specialists at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food suggest one that can be used on Christmas Day - a meat thermometer. This handy little gift will be appreciated and very useful whether the main course meat is Ontario turkey, chicken, pork, beef, lamb or rabbit. The thermometer takes the guessing out of roasting any meat. On this busy day, think how easy it would be to insert a thermometer into the meat or poultry (or stuffing of the turkey) at the beginning of cookin and let it indicate when the meat is done. Certainly, the cook has a general idea of how long to roast the meat. For example, most cookbooks indicate that a 12-1b. whole stuffed turkey, roasted at 160 degrees C (325 degrees F), will take about 43/4 to 51/2 hours. But that's a 3/4 hour difference! A meat thermometer will tell you exactly when it's done without the guesswork. The Wisemen... a from page 7A hostility towards Jesus Christ, today, but there is still the reaction of complete indifference. How dangerousthis is when we are specifically told that, "We shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ - everyone of us shall give account of himself to God. (Rom. 14:10,12) The wisemen's reaction, to which we will speak to, was that of "Adoring Worship". Their desire was to lay at the feet of Jesus, to worship hire' and present him with gifts. Shouldn't this be our reaction this Christmas. The Bible calls them "wisemen", they were not simple people, they were not stupid, they were learned men. Men who had probably studied a great deal, who, no doubt, took time in making a decision. They would not start a, journey like they did without much thought. Surely, knowing who they were, we must stop and think twice about their reaction. Perhaps we should be looking to changing our reaction to Christ, as well? YOUR REACTION At Christmas time should we not all be wisemen searching for the Christ child. Should we not be anxious to pay homage to our Heavenly King. Matthew 2:12 says, "And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way." Herod's reaction of hatred and hostility to Christ caused the wisemen to go another way. They could have gone back the way they had come, back the way of Herod, but it would have meant the death of Jesus. Their hopes and dreams of the eternal Kingdom would have been lost. They wisely chose to take a different course in going home. They determined in their •hearts that the melody of Christ's birth would continue to play lin their hearts and that God's purpose for them was a different purpose than a world represented by Herod. How little the world has changed. We can go to'r-Bethlehem at Christmas and return to our old ways and old habits and nothing will have changed, but you see this is not the idea of Christ's coming. Christ's life on earth was to be a life that would change mankind. So I say to you, are you going back after meeting Christ at Christmas, on the old road or are you going to follow the wisemen and go back the other way, a way that will show you a life in tune with Christ's hopes and aspirations for the world — the way of a `l new world of love and harmony and peace. What more could I wish for you than at Christmas you do not return from Bethlehem on the old road, but find a new one on which the guideposts are clearly marked by Christ's life on earth a road that will be .lull of richness, wonderful fields of service and a heart forever warm with the infinite love of Christ, a life that will • become worthwhile being lived with Christlike devotion. The verse of a Christmas Carol says: What can rgive Him Poor as I am ° If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb If I were a wiseman .I would do my part Yet what can I give Him? GIVE MY HEART There could be no greater reaction on your part, than to give to Christ the greatest gift of all, your heart. This Christmas as we plan our gifts and make our lists of those to whom we shall give, will Christ's name, be there with your friends? Christ is friend, counsellor and Saviour. "For unto• you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Dr. Lynch said there are various instructions that the Health Unit gives to parents who have any children with head lice. Fie said the Unit is also sending its people to schools that haven't had any reports of lice. The north end of the county seems' to be the major area for the lice he said. "The staff from the Board of Education seems quite content with what we're doing," the Huron MOH said.
