(Photo by Joanne Buchanan) Good cooks... • from page 1A until after she was married, Mrs. Duizer finds that she enjoys it. Sometimes she's in the mood to make fancy desserts. But although grasshopper pie sounds fancy, it is really very simple to make, she says. Mrs... Duizer has . three daughters and a son and. says that her baking gets eaten nearly as fast as she does it. Her 12 and 13 - year -old daughters enjoy baking desserts and Mrs. Duizer says they bake more than she ever did at their age. As a 4-11 leader, Mrs. Duizer has taught baking and cooking. She says the 4-11 girls really seem to enjoy the cooking clubs. Mrs. Duizer has done lots of baking for Women's Institute bake sales too. The judges in the Signal -Star's recipe contest must have agreed. because Sheila's cookies won $50 for the Second Knox Auxiliary elects new executive Thirty-two ladies . net for the Christmas meeting of the Afternoon Auxiliary of the WMS held at 2:30. p.m. on Tuesday, December 11 in the parlour or Knox Presbyterian Church, Goderich. Mrs. Gordon Kaitting, president, welcomed all, on this beautiful December day. The meeting opened with the singing of three carols - 0 Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark the Herald Angels Sing and Away in a Manger. Mrs. Kaitting read a poem by Helen. Steiner Rice entitled, "Uhto us a Child'is Born" and gave a meditation, "Christmas Fable" in which Christ is depicted as appearing in the present day world, first in the form of a young boy, then as an old woman and finally as a tired businessman. Each one was rejected in his need by. those who are called' Christians. The fable ends with Jesus saying "Inasmuch as ye did not do it for the least 'ol my brethren, ye did it not for me." Mrs. R. McAllister` read the scripture lesson and led in prayer. The minutes of the November meeting were read by Mrs. Jas. Horton, secretary reported on cards sent to the sick and shut-ins and notes of thanks were read. Members were pleased to hear from another. member, Mrs. Don Croft, who is spending the winter in Florida. Mrs. R. McCallum reported that sub- scriptions had been sent, in for the Glad Tidings for 1980. Mrs. E. Bogie reported on visits made by herself and Mrs. J. K. Wilson to nursing homes. Nineteen books have been circulated from the lending library among members during the past year. All were pleased with Mrs. G. G. MacEwan's report that the allocations for. 1979has been exceeded. The 'Carol, "Joy to the World" was sung. Mrs. Kaitting named all members of the executive and thanked each •personally for co- operation and help during the past year. Mrs. A. Erskine read a letter thanking the group for its contributions to The Fellowship of the Least Coin.
