The Goderich Lakeport
Steel Bantams had a busy
but productive •weekend
winning a league game
and adding a win and a tie
in two exhibition games.
On Saturday morning
the Steelers whipped
Wingham 10-2 and that
same evening they
shaded London 4-3. The
Steelers travelled to
Owen Sound Sunday and
settled for a 6-6 tie.
The Steelers had an
easy time in Wingham
scoring four goals in the

ding six more in the
second period en rout to
the 10-2 victory.

The Steelers had more
competent opposition
Saturday evening in an
exhibition game against
London in Goderich. A
third period unassisted
goal by •Brad Armstrong
lifted the Steelers to a 4-3
win.
The Steelers opened the.
s oring in the game as

pass from. Stahl after just
three minutes of play.

minutes later and the
first period ended 1-1.

strong second period
scoring the only two -goals

heading into the final
period but Owen Sound

period goals to tie the
game 6-6.

Gee Gees move
into first place tie
Goderich Gee Gees
played one of their finest'
games of the year in
downing the Baechler
Lumber men from Port
Elgin 80-57. The key to the
game seemed to be the
unbelievable shooting of
Greg Beacom, who
scored 30,points.
The success of
Beacom's inspired
playing has been credited
to a three week vacation
in Florida where he
toured many of the U.S.
hot spots of Basketball.
The win for Goderich was
personally satisfying for
Jeff Baechler in that it is
his uncle, Bruce Baechler
who sponsors the team
from Port Elgin.
Offensively, Goderich
also had strong .per-
formances by Warren
Watt and Jeff Baechler
with 15 and 13 points
respectively. Greg Smith
was able to come up with
12 points. The win leaves
Goderich and Port Elgin
tied for first place, which
will -be determined this
Friday, Dec. 21 when
Goderich will host Port
Elgin. Game time has
been scheduled for 8 p..m.
The Garb and Gear Gee
Gees would like to thank
all persons who bought
tickets on this year's
raffle. It is through their
support the team is able
to play in the Lakeshore
Intermediate Basketball
League. Winners this
year' are Bill McKellar,
Don Tipert and Gord
McLellan.
