The annual White Gift
Service was held at
Holmesville United
Church on Sunday,
December 9 with the
•- Sunday School in charge.
Rev. Oestreicher
opened the service and
welcomed all present.
Nancy Thompson led in
prayer and Lisa Forbes
read the scripture. The
Senior Sunday School
classes then presented a
skit about gift giving and
the true spirit of
Christmas. Those taking
_part in the skit were
Travis Bell, Jackie
Norman, Steven
Preszcator, Tracy
Norman, Heather Harris,
Janine Mayhew and
Shannon Preszcator. The
carollers consisted of the
junior Sunday School
classes.
Four senior pupils, Tim
Mayhew, Robin Lobb,
Dennis Thompson, and
Frank Schloendorf
collected the White Gifts
and the offering while.
Shelley Crawford and
Lisa Forbes read prayers
of Thanksgiving.
The Advent Candle of
Sharing°was lit by Tracy
Smith. Following this, the
primary and nursery
classes gathered around
the manger while Mrs.
Martie Lobb read a story
about the "Legend Of The
Christmas Flower".
Away in a Manger was
then sung by the youngest
children.
Rev. Oestreicher
closed the service with
the -benediction and-in-
vited
ndinvited everyone down-
stairs for a social hour.
Last Sunday morning
in Holmesville United
Church, the junior girls of
the Sunday School sang in
the choir. Jim. Crawford
lit the candle of courage,
on this day, the third
Sunday in Advent. All the
children went to their
classes.
Mr. • Oestreicher's
message was The Sounds
of the Season. He
welcomed into mem-
bership in the church:.

Mrs. Phyllis Cox; Mr.
and Mrs. Doug Gilders;
Mr. and Mrs. Harold

Paquette; Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Perdue; Mr.

Rutledge; Mrs. Robert
Smith and Mr. and Mrs.
Ron Tyndall. Mr. Don
Lobb and ' Mr. Bill
Crawford received the
offering.
A Christmas Eve
service will be held at
8:30 p.m. and for the
months of January and
February, the worship
service will be at 1 p.m.
School News
Friday, December 14,
Al Mullen and the band
from Goderich District
Collegiate Institute was
at the school in the
morning to entertain the
pupils.
Monday, December 17,
the dress rehearsal for
the Christmas concert
was held. About 20
patients from the
Bluewater Centre came
to watch the performance
and found it very en-
joyable.
Friday, December 21,
the pupils will be treated
to the Walt Disney
International Velvet in
the morning. The
Children will be
dismissed shortly after
noon for the Christmas
break. The pupils will
return to school on
Thursday, 'January 3,
1980 - no lunches sho Lid
be sent with pupils on
Friday, December 21
because of an early
dismissal.
Hot Dog, pop,- clip
sales. Thursday,

last day of hot dog, pop, .
chip sales for this year.
