held' a special Christmas supper last Friday and,
exchanged gifts at MacKay Hall. The group also
enjoyed a medley of Christmas carols. (photo by

Five
break-ins
on FrWay
Goderich police report
another fairly quite week
in town from December
11 to 18 except for a series
of five break and enters
on Friday evening,
December 14.
Jewelry and money,
including some old coins
were stolen from a house
on CObourg Street. Over
$680 was stolen from a
house on St. Vincent
Street. About $200 was
stolen from a house
Newgate Street. A small
amount of money was
taken from a house on
Park 'Street and a bottle
of whiskey was taken
from a house on Widder
Street. -
Police are still in-
vestigating these break
and enters. They have
some suspects.
Police Chief Pat King
warns that this is the time
of year when the
professional criminal

The Chief suggests that
people always lock their,
. doors and even leave
lights on when going out.
— Sometimes a neighbour
should be informed as
well, he says.
Serial numbers of
items should. always be
jotted davn so police can
track these -items, if
stolen, more • easily
through the Canadian
Police tnformation
Centre, says Chief King.
The police have a
marking pen which can
be borrowed to mark
those items which do not,
have serial numbers,
Markings should be made
where they are easily
seen.
On December 13 a tape
deck and tapes were
stolen from a car on
Bruce Sheet which was
broken into.
Some Christmas tree
lights were stolen from
East Street and Park
. Street on December 13
also.
On the same evening,
some keys were Stolen
from a car. at McGee
Motors.
On Decemb• er 15 a rock
was thrown through, a
house window on Comox
Crescent.
On December 16 the
doors at Suncoast Mall
were forced' open but
there was no theft or
damage.
Several bicycles were
stolen during the week.
There were five ac-
cidents, most of them
caused by road con-
ditions.
On December a
vehicle stopped oh the
Square near West Street
was struck from behind
by another vehicle,
causing $1,000 damage.
On December 14 two
vehicles backing out from
parking spaces on North
Street ran into one
another, causing about
$100 damage.
On December 16 two
vehicles ran into one
another at Cambria Road
and Bruce Street, causing
ab9ut $500 damage. '
On December 17
shortly after the noon
hour, a car came around
a....c:orner at Nelson Street
and Maitland Road and
slid into a trailer in front
of. Lakeport Steel,
causing about $850
damage.
A few minutes after
this accident, there was a
two car collision at a
yield sign on Ca bridge
and Maple treets,
causing abou $425
damage.
