Ontario offers many activities
Though the nights are
closing down o\n .is again
for another four months
there are a few rays of
sunshine, a bright one
being the proliferation of
winter carnivals.
A few years ago there
were only one or two in
this province but they're
so popular and their
parades, ski com-
petitions, dogsled races,
hockey tournaments,
dances and other ac-
tivities attract so many
people more and more
communities are getting
into the act.
Then, too, there are the
other events that help to
pass the short winter
days and long nights,
curling bonspiels, skiing
tournaments, hockey
matches, art exhibitions,
theatrical performances
and musical events of all
kinds, among others. It
may not be the sunniest

Outdoor rinks in town
It seems like there's
little 'chance to get the
family out for some old
fashion skating anymore.
Well, that's not true.
There's public skating at
the Goderich and District
Community Centre each
Sunday from 1-2.30 p.m.
and the cost is only 50
cents and there is no
charge for , pre-school
children.
The Goderich Lions
Club also sponsors a free -
skate at the Goderich
Community Centre every
Tuesday and Thursday
from 4-5 p.m.
Goderich residents can
also take advantage of
outdoor rinks.
Town staff will again
maintain a rink at Judith
Gooderham Pool when
the weather cooperates
and there may be other
outdoor rinks at the GDCI
athletic field, another in
the Suncoast and Sunset
Drive area and there is a
slight chance of one being
built in Courthouse Park.
The •Goderich Optimist
Club has agreed to
maintain a rink on the
soccer field in
Agriculture Park.
If plans work out there
will no shortages of rinks
