Friday when they siaged, this bake and craft sale in the hospital cafeteria. The effort was a success and\the ladies had little difficulty selling all the goods. Baked treats and crafts were donated by auxiliary members and wives of hospital staff and doctor. (photo by Jeff eddon) e ensures v The regular December meeting of the Goderich Branch of the Women's Institute was recently held in MacKay Hall with Mrs. Mary Clairmont in the chair.' The meeting opened in the usual order. Mrs. Rhiel read the minutes of the last meeting. The roll call was an- swered with a package of Christmas. cookies for a cookie exchange held later. Donations of money and knitted articles were accepted for the Family and Children's Services: Plans were completed for the birthday party at Htironview on December . 12. Former members are .to be remembered with cards. The afternoon's program was in the charge of Mrs. Bert Crawford, Public Relations Convener. She welcomed the 26 mem- bers and introduced three visitors. Two short articles were read, "For A Friend" and "Keeping Christmas". The guest for the af- ternoon was Mrs. L. Warr who was most warmly welcomed by all. Her message illustrated the importance of Christmas• in our lives and its impact through us on others. She also gave a, short talk on Christmas ' customs in other lands which was very interesting. Mrs. Warr was thanked and presented with a gift. Mrs. M. McPhee and Mrs. R. McCreight were winners in a Christmas carol contest with Mrs. Celia Taylor at the piano. Several Christmas carols were sung. TWo membersofthe Institute were remem- bered for having been members for 50 years — joining the Institute in 1929. Mrs. Jas. Homemaking services could include, assistance with personal care, light housework, laundry etc. Mrs. Young claims' more and more peciple in the county are taking advantage of both the home help'and homemaking services. But, she admits, there are stillmany people who are unaware of the type of service available.
