The Goderich Signal-Star, 1979-12-13, Page 11Art Club holds • On the evening of Saturday, December 8 the well attended annual Christmas party for members of the Goderich Art Club was held at Dungannon doings Marie Park correspondent Mrs. Dora Marsh of Aub- urn and Mrs. Edith Thomp- son, Brampton called on Mel Jones on Wednesday after- noon. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Law- son and Jimmy of Stoney Point visited with her par- ents, Mr. and Mrs: Marvin Smith for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy visited on Sunday, at Strath- roy with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Eedy and family when the families gathered for an early Christmas. Dr. S. C. Stothers of Winnipeg spent Tuesday cal- ling on friends in Lucknow area and visited his cousin, 4 P 529-7719 Mrs, Mary Bere. he attended a meeting in Stratford on - Wednesday. Sympathy is extended to the families of the late Mrs. Carman Feagen, who passed away on Sunday in Univer- sity Hospital, London. We welcome Ed and Lau- rie Godfrey back to the village. They are now resid- ing in the Eric Stewart house, just east of Dawsons' store. Gailya Maguire gave an interesting review of the club's activities in 1979 and announced the new officers for 1980. She was presented with a cup and saucer as gift of appreciation for the excellent leadership given in the past year. Later Lu Legg 'led the joyful singing of Christmas carols to the skillful accompaniment of Edwina McKee at the piano. Donna Clark of Waterloo spoke to Alpha Huron about her work as co-ordinator for UHGO (United • Handicapped Groups of Ontario) for Central Western Ontario. Donna, a graduate of Guelph University, is with UHGO on a Secretary of State grant. Alpha Huron President, Pat Watson, thanked Donna and assured her Robertson Round -up STUFF BOXES Mr. Matthies' Grade 5 and 6s are making "Stuff Boxes". Each person has a different topic to do. Each box has to con- tain: a.list of reference books, a short book written by the person - about the subject, pic- tures, game (made by the person) and a list of reference films.
