Installation ceremonies held for Maitland Masonic
Lodge No. 33 in Goderlch on Wednesday, December
5 began with a banquet for over 70 members and
visitors. Officers for 1979-80 are, front row, left to

McDade principal of St. Mary's

James McDade of Babb
Crescent, Stratford, was
appointed to the position
of principal at St. Mary's
School, Goderich,
Monday' night by the
Huron -Perth County
Roman Catholic Separate
School Board.
He has been acting
principal since
November 19 and will!
continue in that capacity
until his appointment
becomes effective
January 1, 1980:
Prior to the ap-
pointment he was a
resource teacher in the
area of curriculum,
working out of the board
'office in Dublin. He has
his B.A. and Master of
Education from the
Ontario Institute of
Studies in Education in
Toronto.
He replaces Betty L.
Clark who had been the
principal, but had asked
for reassignment to other
Stratford; personnel, Ron
Murray, Dublin; tran-
sportation, John
O'Drowsky, St. Marys;
and finance and in-
surance, Gregory
Fleming, Crediton.
Ad Hoc committees
were approved with the
following chairman of
each: trustee -clergy
. liaison, Arthur Haid, RR4
Listowel; early school
leaving, Ronald Murray;
teacher negotiations,

a fairly quiet week in
town from December 4 -to
11.
Early in the morning on
Decetriber 5, two tail
lights were kicked out of
a car on Elgin Avenue.
Later that day, on Elgin
__AKenue again, _another

with special emphasis on
the revision and
development of a French
program for ,Grades 4 to

The board approved
nine professional
development days for the
teachers, of which five
are countydays devoted
to curriculum im-
plementation while the
remaining four days will
be professional activity
days dealing with
curriculum planning.
The next meeting will
be held on January 14.

8, a car was stolen from

after it caught on fire.

investigation.
Cashway Lumber
reported to police on
December 7 that a door
there had been forced
open but nothing was

was reported that the tool
shed door at the car wash
on Kingston Street had
also been forced open.
Police have reason to
believe that the two in
cidents are connected
-
and involve someone who

evening's shelter.
It was reported to
police on December,8 that
five or six Christmas
lights had been taken
from a front lawn on
Nelson Street.
A -dor was stolen :from
Hayter's lot late
December 7 or early
December 8. It was found
in a field near Benmiller.

were ordered passed and
paid by Goderich
Township Council when it
met in regular session on
December 3.
By-law number 22,
1979, a by-law for setting
the- salaries of various
officials, was given a
third reading and passed.
And by-law number "i.23,
1979, a by-law for ap-
pointing various officials,
was given three readings
and passed also.
The clerk was in-
structed to write a letter
of appreciation to
William and Pat Rivett
for their donation to the
(L.
Council passed a
motion to accept the
roadway, referred to in
the Hindmarsh severance
application to Youngblut,
as running northerly
from Black's Point Road,
provided that the deed is
corrrected to show 66 feet
in width and 550 feet in
total length, and provided
that the road meets the
road superintendent's
approval.
Council decided to
attend a joint meeting
with Clinton to discuss
recreation activities, if
and when it is called.
Building permits were
issued.to John Rodges for
a calf pen and to Jeff
Seddon for an exercise
barn.
,Council passed a
motion that the Ministry
of Housing be requested
to remove the Regulation
