The GDC/ Junior
Vikings won an exhibition
basketball game here
Friday, defeating Sarnia
St. Clair 54-43. The game
was the first of the new
season for coach Lynn
Meyers' Vikings.
1Vlike Wedlock led the
Vikings with 14 points.
Dennis Aubin was the
other Viking in double
figures with 12.'° Chris
Pitre and Scott Bell had
five points each. Colin
Alexander and Rob
Plunkett threw in four
apiece while Kevin
Adams, Joe Morrissey,

Leddy had two points
each. Karl Krohmer and
Andy Masse contributed
one point apiece.
Jim Healy was St.
Clair's top scorer with 10
points.
The Vikings had a 22-16
lead at halftime and had
little trouble maintaining
their lead. This allowed
coach Meyers to use all
his men and he expressed
pleasure with the play of
his first year players.
The Vikings met
Parkhill here Tuesday in
elshibition play and make
their first league start in
Clinton today (Thur-
sday). Tomorrow the
Vikes go to Owen Sound
for another exhibition
encounter.

The GDCI senior
Vikings defeated Sarnia
St. Clair 49-3.4 in
exhibition basketball
played here Friday night.
Dennis Donnelly and
Phil Aubin each had 15
points to lead the Vikings'
attack. Andy Moore
added seven points and
Doug Cruickshank hit for
three. Mark Alexander,
Dan Freeman, Ted
Doherty and Rob
McDonald all had two
points while Mike
Murphy had one.
Don Miller was tops for
Sarnia with six points.
Coach Phil Bugler was
satisfied with the
Vikings' effort, although
he felt their shooting
percentages (36 percent
from the floor and 45
percent from the foul
line) were not, high
enough and they were -
guilty of too mahy tu, -
novers.
Dennis Donnelly and
Andy Moore, elected as
team captains of the
Vikings, both showed
good court leadership.
Moore pulled down 13
rebounds, twelve of them
in the last half, to lead in
that department.
Hug ter was also
pleased with the play of
his first year players and
feels they are starting to
blend in with the
veterans. Phil Aubin,
with 11 rebounds to go
with his 15 points topped
the rookie crew.
The Vikings played
Tuesday against Parkhill
in exhibition play and
travel to Clinton today
(Thursday) for their first
league encounter against
Central Huron.
Tomorrow they play an
exhibition game in Owen
Sound.

BYTD
The ' GDCI midget
basketball Vikings made
their initial start of the
season a successful one
when they defeated
Sarnia,.
St. Clair, 76-46, in
exhibition play here
Friday.
Coach Myles Murdock
felt his Vikings had a
good game offensively
where they shot a high 48
percent, but was not as
pleased with their
defensive play. Fifteen of
St. Clair's points came on
free throws as the
Vikings committed 32
fouls. The Vikings also
were guilty of 36 tur-
novers, but as Murdock
pointed out, these are
mistakes typical of early -
season midget basketball
and they can be
corrected. The Viking
coach found it hard to
hide his pleasure at the
amount of raw talent he
has to work with on this
year's team;) I
