'ANDERSON,
FIRST BAPTIST
CHURCH
It is most important
that we do take time to
study agreements,. If we
do not fulfill the con-
ditions that are stated
therein, then the
agreement ,or policy
becomes VOID.
God has. left us with a
wonderful • agreement, a
-won der€ul- prom -ise, but it-------
is—Trot--an ondttional; -it print. Yet -to read the truth; acrd the life; -no-one
inister's
study
doesn't apply to
everyone. There are
conditions or terms that
must be met. If we dn,not
know what these are and
do not meet them, then
the agreement does not
apply„ o,us,.at leaktnot in
the wy'vre•Wourld'hope it
would. Instead . of
protective coverage, we
may well find out that,we
---have .no protection at. all.
The Bible certainly lets
us know where we stand.
This agreement lets us
know whether we are lost
or saved, whether we will
spend eternity in Heaven
or not. It clearly states
that there is life after
death.
It is such an important
agreement and yet many
have not shown any in-
terest in it nor taken any
time to read the fine
word of God is to find out
just what the
requirements are.
What is this agreement
called the New
Testament about
anyway?
God points out in His
word that we are born
sinners and are under the
power ofSatan the devil
that only through -
spiritual _rebirth
hroughspiritual.=rebirth can we •
be loosened from Satan's
power over us and come
under -the power of God
again, be saved from the
wrath of God to come,
and understand what is
meant by God's promise
of Eternal Life. -
"Except a man be born
again, He cannot see the
kingdom of God." (John
3:3).

the . theme, "Ordinary'
Days and Extraordinary
Ways."
A hymn was read in
unison. Mrs. Stuart
Chamney read the

verses 1-10, followed with
prayer.

"The God of All Comfort"
followed with the
readings, "Just an
Ordinary Day", "We
Live in the Now", and
"Success out of Failure",
taken by Mrs. William
Hardy, Mrs. R. Jefferson

the hymn, 'In the

Dawning," taken from
the "Praise Ways", a
hymn book used at the
Presbyterian Congress
held in Guelph this past
SU miner.
Mrs. R. Bogie and Mrs.
Robert" McAllister very
ably conducted the
program. Mrs.
McAllister spoke on the
1979 Congress.
Congress is held every
four years. People from
all walks of life from
Victoria, B.C. to St.
John's, Newfoundland,
attend from Friday night
till Monday at noon.
Congress started in
1951 and was first a pre -
assembly gathering. It is
now held early in July,
one month after General
Assembly meets.
The thelme speaker this
year was the Reverend
Mackenzie from
Newfoundland, who gave
three talks during the
weekend.
Mrs. Bogie gave an
inspiring devotional
reading from St. Mark,
and stated that conditions
in Jesus' time were
similar to our modern '
times. People given office
sometimes act as the
disciples did.
Mrs. Bogie concluded
her devotional period by
reading the poem,
"Others".
The hymn, "We Find
Thee, Lord," from Praise
Ways, was sung.
Mrs. 1_eAllister con-
tinued her talk by telling
of some of the leaders of
Bible study for Congress
and some highlights of
their talks.
The hymn, "There is a
Time," was sung and the
meeting closed with
prayer said by Mrs.
Kaitting. A social hour
was enjoyed.
