A demanding schedule
is beginning to take it
toll on the Goderich
Merchants.
The schedule had the
Merchants playing seven
games in the first 19 days
' of November 'and the
team showed- signs of
strain this week.
Last Wednesday , the
Merchants put out a
strong offensive effort in
a 8-2 rout of Centralia
College but thursday they
dropped a 5-2 decision to
Exeter and Monday the
defending champion
Zurich Buckeyes handed
Goderich their second
straight loss, 6-3.
But the Merchants
stood up and recorded
four wins and tie in the
seven -game stretch.
Cam MacDonald led
the Merchant offence in
the 8-2 win over Centralia
with a four point night.
MacDonald scored a goal
in each period and also
set up a first period
marker by Bill Wedlock.
Paul Corriveau chipped
in with two goals and an.
assist while Wedlock,
Phil Petrie and Dave
Graf added one goal
each. Rob Standed
assisted on three goals
and Tom O'Brien two.
The Merchants led 4-1
after one period, 5-2 after
two and completed the
win with „three straight
goals in the final 20
minutes.
The Merchant streak
was -halted in Exeter
Thursday as the
Mohawks scored two
third period goals to
clinch a 5-2win. -

Buckeyes increas.ed their

goals in the first minute

Rob Standen got one
back for the Merchants in
the second period on a
power play completing a
passing play with Fraser
Strong.
But Zurich responded
with two goals in two
minutes and Ron
Corriveau added another
for the Merchants before
the close of the period to
make the score -5-2 in
favor of Zurich after two
periods.
Goderich again pulled
to within two goals in the
third period as Fraser
Strong scored from
Standen. Zurich replied
with a power play effort
late in the game to wrap
the win.
On Monday the Mer-
chants will host Kettle
Point at 8.30 p.m.
