He pointed out that the old laundry building, which has now been removed, was not structurally sound and was a fire hazard. It is estimated that it will he $11,000 per year cheaper to purchase the laundry service: The steam pressure can now be cut down from 110 pounds to 55 pounds resulting in a reduction of one-third of former gas consumption. There is now an ample supply of linens of gond quality and also"- a 15 percent reserve supply for busy times or in case of emergency. The new loading dock•is also a great asset to the hospital. In , the new wing, a workshop t'or carpentry and a large maintenance r'ooni has been provided. The former main- tenance room, which was much too 'small, is now being used to store hospital records. The new larger quarters for the mails% tenance workers makes it possible for them-to.do all carpentry work, decorating, most elec- trical work with the help of a consultant,'in fact, all repairs except those which are highly technical. At present, they are making cupboards for the new pediatrics depart- ment un the first floor. r Mr: ,Greene and Miss Shack then conducted tours of the new areas.
