Dungannon correspon-

West Gwillimbury, was
pictured in the Witness
after being chosen queen
of the Ethnic Harvest
Festival.

Gwillimbury Reeve John
Fennell (married to her
daughter Marietta), was

A record 26,000 people
attended the Huron
Country Playhouse in
Grand Bend last season.
That represented a 30 per
cent increase over the
1978 season.
Next year the
Playhouse will hold its
annual festival of sum-
mer theatre for 11 full
weeks. It will be the
longest season ever.
The major musical will
run for three weeks in-
stead of two, opening
August 19 until Sep -
..ember 6. The Sound of
Music was completely
sold out six weeks in
advance last season -(the
audiences totalled 9,000)
so many people were
disappointed.
James Murphy, artistic
director and managing
director of the Playhouse
for the past eight years,
left at the end of October.
Aileen Taylor -Smith, who
has acted in many
Playhouse productions
since 1973, has taken over
as artistic director and is
in the middle of planning
next season.
So look forward to some
top-notch plays.

The November session
of West Wawanosh
Township Council was
held November 6. Con-
servation Officer Roy
Belanger spoke to council
in regard to the beaver
problem in West
Wawanosh, and advised
on the best method of
control, which is trap-
ping. He advised that
nothing stops a lan-
downer from trapping
beavers on his own
property (or shooting),
and that a trapper could
do it with the landowner's
permission.

Sam Gerowsky's name
was inadvertently left off
the Goderich Little
Theatre program for
Fiddler on the Roof. It
was through him and his
family that GLT was able
to obtaiir prayer shawls
and prayer caps for some
of the characters in the
play on loan from a
synagogue in London.
GLT was able to learn
about Jewish customs
and culture from many
Jewish friends in the
community and would
like to gratefully
acknowledge „ all con-
tributions.
