PHONE: 524-86100,524-7324 Wed 60 years On Saturday evening, November 3, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Jamieson celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wed in,g which took place at the home of the bride's par td, the late Mr. and Mrs.•Daniel Mclnnes, Langside, O tario, on December 24, 1919. Approximately 225 friends and relatives attended this special -celebration held at the°Canadian Legion Hall in. Goderich. Open House commenced at 7 p.m., followed by a reception for family and relatives. Grandchildren assisted in greeting the guests at the door, and in serving refreshments. Mayor Harry Worsell brought greetings from. the Town of Goderich, and,a plaque from the,Province of Ontario was presented by Jack Riddell, M.P.P. The head table was lovely with floral arrangements, candles and a three -tiered wedding cake made by Mrs. Jamieson's niece, Mrs. Dan Tiffin of Wingham. Johnny McInnes of Wingham was Master of Ceremonies and brought greetings to the couple. A short program and dancing was followed by a boun- tiful lunch. Guests were present from Mississauga, Oshawa, London, Ingersoll, Woodstock, Wiarton, Kitchener, Walkerton, Lucknow,, Wingham, Kincardine, Teeswater andother points. Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson have a family of two, Mrs. John (Isabelle) Splan of Woodstock and Stuart of Wiarton. There are eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson were the recipients of many beautiful flowers, gifts and cards. Mr. Jamieson acts as a crossing -guard for the public school children of Goderich. Winter office is open The Ministry of Transportation and Communications has announced that its winter road reporting service for the public went into operation on November 5. The road information centre at Toronto and the Ministry's district offices throughout the province have up-to-date in- formation on the con- dition of all provincial and secondary highways 24 hours a day, seven days a week during the winter months, Information on winter road conditions may be 25 YEARS On our 25th Anniversary in Goderich, we would like to say a sincere thanks, to all those friends who have made our stay in business possible. Goderich WI Enjoydinner at Legion The November meeting student under the Rotary of the Goderich Branch ofNponsorship plan, who is the Women's Institute was held in the Legion Hall, where the Legion Auxiliary, under the convenorship of Mrs. Sharon Scruton, served a most delicious dinner to 46 Institute members and their guests. Mrs. C. Taylor presided at the piano for 0 Canada and the Institute Grace. Mrs. Mary Clairmont opened a short business period with the Opening Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect, Mrs. Mary McPhee received a gift for having a birthday nearest the date of the meeting. Mrs. Helen Morley and Mrs. Margaret McKenzie, who attended the Area Convention in St. Marys on November 1 and 2 gave interesting reports of the two-day meeting. The theme of the convention was "The Rights and Respon- sibilities of the Child." The resolution about the closing of hospital beds, sent in to the convention by ;the Goderich Branch was accepted and passed. Mrs. C. Lockhart thanked the Goderich 'Branch for their assistance at the Huronview Bazaar. Mrs. M. Clairmont thanked the Legion ladies who served the dinner and also the Branch Directors for planning the activities of the afternoon. Mrs. Jean Schram introduced violinist, Mrs. Mable Gray who, ac- companied by Mrs. C. Taylor, delighted the ladies with several old favourite selections. Guest speaker for the afternoon was Miss Lucia Zmekhol of Sad Paulo, Brazil, an exchange now staying with Mr. and Mrs. Mac Campbell while attending high school here. After a very in- formative film -and cassette presentation on the different areas of Brazil, Miss Zmekhol answered questions from the ladies. In this way, the ladies learned much about her native land — unemployment, languages, schools and curriculum were only a few of the topics touched on.
