competition among alt Shur -
Gain mill operators ih Ont-
ario. Ken Hodges attended
the Dealers' Conference held
at the Bristol Place Hotel in
Toronto and accepted the
award on behalf of Hodges

George Cowan spoke on
the topic, "Why Did You Tell
Me To Love", and closed his
remarks by reading a poem
with that title. The choir sang
two numbers with a Remem-
brance Day theme, "Hold
the Fort", by Phillip P. Bliss
which was written at a Sun-
day School convention at
Dungannon

which the writer was inspired
by the telling of a war story
and "Where Have All The
Flowers Gone", which was
written in 1961 by Peter
Seeger to emphasize the folly
and waste of war.
The Willing Workers are
holding a bazaar and tea on
Saturday afternoon. Dona-
tions will be gratefully re-
ceived.

Choir practice is on Thurs-
day evening in Dungannon
for both choirs. A good at-
tendance is hoped for as it is
time to start preparing
Christmas music. The choir
would welcome any volun-
teers, young or older, espec-
ially alto or bass or tenor.
1980 Church Calendars are
available from U.C.W. mem-
bers. Copies are, at the back
of the church.
Nursery Care is being
provided during the church
service each Sunday in Dun-
gannon \by members of the
Willing Workers.

A very interesting institute
meeting on Canadian Indus-
tries was given November 8
at the home of Mrs. Roy
Robson, who was also con-
vener for the meeting.
After the opening exercis-
es, Mrs. Robson introduced
the guest speaker, Bill Rob-
inson of St. Augustine, who
spoke about Maple Syrup.
He explained the Indians'
discovery of the "sweet
water" and their use of it for
cooking and later making it
into sugar. Wooden spiles
and wooden buckets were the
first equipment used, with
the bucket being placed on
the snow-covered ground,
which frequently upset when
the snow melted. It is now an
industry of great commercial
value, and many advanced
improvements were describ-

Institute is planning

1:30 p.m., Mrs. Cathy
Thompson, nutrition
specialist with the Huron

economist, will
demonstrate, "Common
sense approach to
nutrition and cooking for
one or two".

brance Day" observance
program on Friday,
November 9.
First term reports will

An all day P.A. ,Day
will be at Colborne
Central School on
Wednesday, November 28
when parent and_teacher
interviews will be
available. This is an
opportunity for parents of
students to acquaint
themselves more fully
with their children's
education.
ACHIEVEMENT DAY
Achievement Day is
always special for the 4-H
girls and on Thursday
evening November 8 at 7
p.m. Brookside School
was alive with ex-
citement as many 4-H
members and their
leaders and some parents
gathered for the special
program of viewing the
displays, hearing the
skits and looking over the
work of the members. -
All leaders received
special recognition and
were each given a
beautiful spoon as a
thankyou for leading a
group in the project,
"Needlepoint".
All the girls received a
lovely spoon also and
depending on the number
of projects they had
taken, received honors or
special recognition.
Tiger Dunlop Group 1,
led by Mrs. Ann Feagan
and Miss Helen Brindley,
presented a skit during
the evening called, "To
the Kiat". One of their
