Auburn couple attend Royal Winter Fair in Toronto
Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Armstrong attended the
Royal Winter Fair at
Toronto last week.
. Bert Marsh is a patient
in Victoria Hospital,
London. He is wished a
speedy recovery.
The community is
pleased to report that
Arnold Graig is im-
proving in University
Hospital, London.
Mr.; and Mrs. Clayton
Robertson of Meaford
visited for a few days last
week with ' her mother,
Mrs. Elva Straughan and
sister, Mrs. Ton) Jardin
and Mr. Jardin: They
attended the funeral of
the late Charles Beadle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben
Hamilton visited in
Windsor last week. Mrs.
Vera LaVigne of Windsor
and Mrs. Laura Bennett
of Detroit returned home
after visitipg for several
weeks here.
Miss Jean Hamilton of
Oshawa is visiting with
her sister, Mrs. Arnold
Craig.

of the Auburn Women's
Institute will be held on
November 20 at 2 p.m.
David Scott, manager of
the Canadian Imperial
Bank of Commerce, will
be the guest speaker.
Mrs. Gordon Chamney,
public relations officer, is
in charge of the meeting.

TRUSTEE BOARD
The November meeting
of the Auburn Trustee
Board was held last
Sunday with Miss Faye Saturday evening in the
Seers in London. They all town hall with chairman,
attented the Metropolitan Warner Andrews, in
United Church, London. charge.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl The minutes of the
Eichholz and family and previous meeting were
Mrs. Bonnie Armour and accepted as read by the
Julie of Waterloo visited clerk, Mrs. Arva
last Sunday with Mr. and Machan. A card of thanks
Mrs. Thomas Jardin. was read from the family
of the late William J.
Craig.

discussed as were
alterations to the library
and fire hall. No decisions
were reached.
The December meeting
will be the end of the year
and the year's reports
will be given.
Wettlaufers celebrate 25th
Bob and Gayle Wilson
and family entertained
Harold, Donna and Paul
Wettlaufer to dinner at
their home on Tuesday
evening Nov. 6, the oc-
casion being the '25th
wedding anniversary of
Harold and Donna.
Later in the evening,
the couple returned to
their farm home to be
greeted by a house full of
well •wishers, for a
"surprise party". The
table was centered with
an anniversary cake and
silver candles.
A presentation was
made by Pam Saddler
and Eileen Potter, and a
lovely lunch was served
by ,Eileen Potter, Pam
Saddler, Gayle Wilson,
Corrie Koene, and Marily
Graham.
The couple thanked
their friends for the
lovely gifts and all their
good wishes.
On Friday evening
Nov. 9 Gerry and Jean
Ginn opened their home
Holmesville school on the
evening of November 8.
There were five tables of
cards : ladies' high, Mrs.
Irene Cudmore; men's
high, Frank Thompson;
ladies' low, Cheryl
Thompson; men's low,
John . McFarlane; lone
hands, Irene Cudmore.
The next card party is to
be held on November 22.
Everyone is.welcome. No
card parties in Decem-
ber, they will commence
in January.
On Friday, November 9
m a special Remembrance
Day Service was held in
the school' gymnasium to
observe this very im-
portant day. As part of
the service, the pupils
wore poppies presented
to them by. the Clinton
Branch of the Royal
Canadian Legion and we
asked the pupils to bring
contributions to the
school for the poppies.
,The money raised helps
the Legion to carry out
many important duties
for another "surprise and we ask your support

Hot dog sales:
beginning this Friday and
continuing until
Christmas the Grade 6
and 7 class will be selling
hot dogs, pop and chips.
All the . profits from
these sales will be going
to help feed the starving
Cambodian people.
Orders will be taken in
each class on Thursday
and -stoke money collected
on Friday. The cost of the
food is as follows - pop 30
cents, chips 25 cents and.
hot dogs 45 cents.

WI meets
' The Goderich Township
Women's Institute .met in
the school on Monday
evening. The president
Mrs. Hazel McCreath
presided .for the meeting.
Mrs. Berneice McIlwain
read the minutes and
correspondence\. An
invitation was received to
attend the 4-H
Achievernent Day on
December 6. Roll call
Was answered by naming
a Canadian painter.
A pot luck dinner is
planned for .the, meeting
December 10 at 7 p.m.

OBITUARY ,,
Funeral services were
held an November 6 for
Charles Beadle who died
in Victoria Hospital South
Street Campus, London in
his • 71st year on
November 3.
Born in West
Wawanosh, he was the
youngest son of the late
Charles Beadle and
Susannah Johnston. His
birthdate was August 10,
1909.
•
He attended U.S.S. No.
5 Hullett and operated the
Auburn Hotel for a time.
He served in World War
1I in the Canadian Army
and then worked in
Victoria Hospital in the
splint department for 25
years.
He retired a few years
ago and took up residence
in his home on Loftus
Street.
He was a member of St.
_Mark's Anglican Church.
He is ,survived by one
sister, Mrs. Earl (Ellen)
Allison of Goderich,
several nieces and
nephews and two
brothers, Henry Thomas
(Harry) Beadle and
Harold Maitland Beadle.
The Reverend G.L.
Royal conducted the
funeral service at the
Stiles Funeral Home with
burial taking place in
Ball's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were
Gordon Beadle, Gordon
Miller, Arthur
Youngblut, Thomas
Jardin, Thomas Johnston
and James Glousher.
LIONS CLUB
The. Auburn and
District Lions Club met
last Wednesday evening
in the Community
Memorial Hall. Dinner
was served by the
Presbyterian W.M.S.
group. There were 16
present.
President, Lion Bill
Robertson, was in charge
of the meeting.
Lion Bob Worsell read
the minutes of tpe
previous meeting and
they were accepted on
motion of Lion Jim Towe
and Lion Fred Lawrence.
Lion Jim Schneider
gave the financial
statement and each
account was reviewed.
The correspondence
included a letter of
thanks from the Blyth
Figure Skating Club for
the donation sent.
It was announced that
the first meeting in
December would be
Ladies' Night.
A children's Christmas
party is being planned for
the middle of December
(further details to
follow).
Lion Lorne Emmerton
was named to the bulletin
committee and Lion
Marinus Bakker was
named chairman of the
guest speaker 'com-
mittee,
