(OAPSW).
One of these candidates
was Hazel Thompson of
Goderich. Ms. Thompson
applied for membership
candidacy status through
the Membership Cer-
tification Program in
August. of 197-7 and
completed the program
in less than two years.
She entered the program
as a mature candidate
with considerable
practical experience. ,
She had worked in the
public health nursing
field for .14 years; for
eight of these she com-
bined casework and
public health nursing
functions as community
liaison with the Goderich
Psychiatric Hospital. In
1976 she joined the staff of
the Family and
Ch\jldren's Services of
Huron County where she
is currently employed.
She is a graduate of the
University of Toronto
School of Nursing,,with a
certificate in public
health nursing and a
diploma in ad-
ministration. She has a
B.A. from McMaster
University as well as an
M.Ed. (Counselling)
from the University of
Windsor.
She was required to to
complete only three
professional social work
courses for the Cer-
tification Program
because, df a one course
credit for a Family
Theraphy course given
by the Adolescent Unit at
the London Psychiatric
Hospital. On the basis of a
positive evaluation of her
past practice, she' was
required to complete only
one year of supervised
practice.
She took a professional
course, Social Work
Values and Ethics,
t h-r-o-a-g'ir a tutorial
arrangement at the
Department of Social
Work, King's College.
The remaining two
courses in the Cer-
tification Program were
taken at King's College
also. These courses
culminated in a com-
prehensive written , and
oral examination.
Congratualtions to Ms.
Thompson for achieving
her full OAPSW mem-
bership.

1 the most number of grandparents for one person is
i six complete sets. Young Kevin Jones, 3, (top row,
right) may be able to challenge that record with his
12 grandmothers and grandfathers. Included in
Kevin's family roots are, top row, left to right,
great-grandparents Edith and Norman Baird of
Brucefield, grandparents Betty and Joe Daer of
Clinton, grandparents Thelma and Doug Jones of
Brucefield, mom Debbie and dad Dale Jones and
great-grandmother Mrs. William Daer of Goderich.

for Goderich police
The Huron County
Christmas Bureau for
Family and Children's
Services will be open for
donations at the Salvation
Army Citadel on
Waterloo Street -'from
December 3 to 11. Items
needed include good used
toys, clothing anr1 articles
for teenagers.
Anyone wishing to knit
hats, mittens or slippers
for the Bureau, can pick
up yarn, free of, charge,
at the Tender Years
clothing store on
Kingston Street.
The Goderich Kinettes
'are helping' to co-ordinate
the Christmas Bureau
this year.

It was rather a quiet,
Hallowe'en for Goderich
police this year.
One: arrest - for
possession of marijuana
was made that night.
An `old wooden
children's fort was set on
fire at the corner of
Warren and Bennett
Streets.
The front windows in
two different cars parked
at McGee • Motors were
broken about 3:30 a.m. by
someone throating rocks,
causing an estimated $400
damage.
Two molotov cocktails
were found on South
Streetvandpolice are still
investigating that in-
cident.
And finally there was
the usual soaping of
windows and someone
sprayed artificial snow
on several vehicles.
On November 1, a tire
and rine were stolen from
a truck 'on Eldon Street, •
'Also- four hubcaps were
taken ,from two trucks
parked behind Triangle
Discount.
On November 3 a
bundle of London Free
Press , newspapers were
taken from the Shell

During the week there

Increase land purchase price
Huron County council
approved a recom-
mendation of the road
committee Thursday to
increase the land pur-
chase price for road
widenings from $500 an
acre to $2,400 an acre plus
$12 a rod for fence
allowance.
If a new fence is" to be
constructed by county
staff at a price of $12 per
rod, it will bededucted
from the land purchase

Council members were
told by county engineer
Bill Dempsey that the
first metric construction
project will be un-
dertaken on County Road
11 in Usborne Township
next spring. Dempsey
said land purchases after
that time will be made on
hectare rather than acre
measurements, and the
•conversion will mean a
slight increase -i-n- -the
value of the land.
