Energy booklet available in Toronto
Ontario Energy
Minister James Auld
recently announced the
release of a 98 -page
booklet, the Ontario
Energy Review, which
provides Ontario
residents with basic
information on Ontario's
sources of energy supply,
and the likely trends in
energy use over the next
20 years.
"A lot of people ask if
there is an energy crisis
or will there be one in the
near . future," Auld said.
"I hope this publication
will help them to better
appreciate the changing,
and very volatile, energy
picture. I believe a well-
informed consumer can
make more reasoned
decisions about energy. I
hope this publication will
make a contribution to
the general un-
derstanding of energy
matters in Ontario."
The Ontario Energy
Review is not aimed at
discussing energy policy
issues but to present, as
Siding can be used
for variety of .purposes
Siding is a product that
comes in a variety of
textures, colors and
styles. It is made of a
variety of materials, has
a variety of properties
and a variety of.. ad-
vantages. And, according
to one leading siding
manufacturer, siding is
also turning up in a
variety of unusual ap-
plications.
"Siding will always\be
used primarily on
residential housing and
commercial building
exteriors," explains John
Flanagan, national sales
manager of Mastic
Corporation, a firm
which markets all types
of siding products. "And
while 'siding remains the
most popular solution to
home maintenance
problems, we're also
seeing siding applied in
some pretty unusual
places.
One reason for some of

the unusual applications,
according to Flanagan, is
the development of solid
vinyl siding. This product
forever ends most
maintenance chores, and
is an effective energy
saver. Unlike aluminum
siding, vinyl never needs
painting; never chips,
never dents, and iseasy
to clean. All of these
features have endeared
vinyl . siding to the
homeowner and also to
people who have found
new applications for vinyl
siding.
One illustrious Texan,
for example, recently
built a new stable for his
horses. He covered the
entire structure with
vertical T-lok solid vinyl
siding, both inside and
outside. He selected this
particular siding because
it is virtually main-
tenance -free. Washing It
with plain soap and water
or just hosing it down will
return the vinyl siding to
its original "just pain-
ted" look.
If it's good enough for
horses, apparently it's
good enough for cows too.
A leading dairy farmer in
Illinois also selected vinyl
for, his house and for his
new stall barn. He
selected a mist -green
vertical vinyl siding for
both his house and the
inside of his barn because
he wanted a product that
would end his main-
tenance chores.
"We've never had a
product that filled so
many needs before," said
Flanagan. "No matter
what kind of structure.
you cover with siding, a
customer is interested in
looking at all the siding
options. And when he
studies the different
kinds of siding, vinyl wins
out every time."
