basketball team piled up
three victories in Huron -
Perth Conference play
over the past week with
victories over Listowel,
victories over Listowel,
Wingham and Mitchell.

Vikings a perfect 5-0
record, good for first
place in the league

Listowel 93-21 in Listowel
last Wednesday, led by
the 16 -point performance
of Heidi Elliott. Karen
Melady hit for IU points
and Sonja Lapaine got
six.
The game with
Wingham here Friday
was much closer, with the
Vikings emerging 27-24
winners. Wingham led 13-
12 at the half-time. The
Vikings were able to
penetrate the Wingharn
defence but had difficulty
fridge club scores
putting the ball through
the hoop.

Vikings best. Bonnie Reid
and Heidi Elliott con-

Monday. The top scorers
for the Vikings were

Jr. Girls rack up five straight

The GDCI junior
Vikings won three games
over the past week in
Huron -Perth Conference
girls' basketball to. boost
their record to five wiles
and no losses in -league
Play.
Last Wednesday, the
Vikings overwhelmed
Listowel 57-10 in a game
played in Listowel.
Playing at home Friday,
coach John Geiger's girls
defeated Wingham 42-26.
Monday, in another road
game, the Vikings made
it five in crow with a 25-
14 win over Mitchell.
It was "no contest" in
Listowel where the GDCI
gals led 30-7 by halftime.
Coach Geiger went to his
bench strength in the
second half and the
Vikings still managed to
score 27 more points
while holding Listowel to
three.
Heather Minielly led
the Viking scorers with 15
'points. Barb Conlon
threw in eight. • Teresa
Kovacs and Mona
Gleason were good for Wx
each while Robin
MacDonald accounted for
five • points. Janice
McClinchey added the
other two points for
Goderich.
The. Vikings victory
over Mitchell was a low
scoring affair as coach
Geiger took. advantage of
a 14-4 half-time lead. to
work on a man-to-man
defence in the- second
half. This took something
away from the );Viking
offensive output, but
Geiger was 'pleased with
the way his team adapted
to the new defence.
Mona Gleason was the

points for the Vikings.
Robin MacDonald added
six and Teresa Kovac.,:,
