On October 3, the
school newspaper team
took a tour of the Signal -
Star. Two students, Nisa
Howe and Nancy Little
were interviewed.
Nancy :thought it was
neat and she liked it very
much. She especially
liked the composing roorp
with all the computers.
She said that it will help
the committee very
much.
Nisa ,Howe thought it
was vey neat. They all
had a great time.
Mr. Leggatt will also
accept written articles.
This Grade 8 project is
due the first week of May.
Mr. Leggatt will start
individual reports in
November. The project
• consists of 35 pictures
evaluated on variety,
neatness and .com-
pleteness. The project
will be out of 105.

Pope's visit...

person so afflicted, but

acts themselves.
In all the above
statements, and there
were more, the Pope
expressed himself in
traditional terms and so
it is not surprising the
'certain commentators
referred to him as a'
conservative in regard to
moral issues. But those
same persons called him
a liberal when he spoke
out strongly in criticism
of the North American
way of life that consumes
such a disproportionate
share of the resources of
the world while millions
have hardly enough to
maintain their existence.
The Pope knew full well
that his words would not
be welcomed by all his
listeners. Even so, in his
position as., official
spokesman for the.
Catholic Church, he
recognized that his duty
was to speak out.
What reaction can we
expect now that his visit
is over? It is quite un-
derstandable that those,
Christians and others,
who do not look to the
Pope as, head of . their
Church, will • not feel
compelled to accept his
teachings. Neither should
they feel free completely
to ignore what he has
said. After all, he speaks
for a Church which has an
unbroken tradition of
dealing with mbral issues
that goes back almost
2,000 years.
But for Catholics., the
Pope is the Head of the
Catholic Church. It is a
matter of Catholic belief
that he speaks in the
name of Christ when he
teaches on matters of
faith and morality. For a
Catholic to accept some
of the Pope's teachings
while rejecting others
With which he does not
agree, is tantamount to
withdrawing from the
Catholic Church.
