This is Mr. Moran's fourth campaign as a Canada Savings Bonds organizer. This year marks the 34th anniversary of Canada Savings Bonds and during the period 1946-78 inclusive, more than $9.4 billion in Canada Savings Bonds was purchased through the Payroll Savings Plan across the country. Last year in this area, 2,686 employees bought a total of $2,269,000 worth of Canada Savings Bonds through payroll savings. During the Campaign, which runs from mid- September to mid- November, CSB organizers will visit about 2,800 business and industrial establishments in Ontario to help set up payroll savings Plans for the purchase of the new series by employees. This year's issue, which goes on sale October 9, offers in- vestors a return of 10.25 per cent for each of the seven year to maturity in 1986. Individual purchase limit for fhe 1979-80 Series is $25,000. There is also inipor'tant news this year for everyone whn.._now awns Canada Savings Bonds. First, an interim cash bonus is ' due this November 1 on six CSB • issues dated before 1974 - Series 22, Series 23, Series 25, Series 26, Series 27 and Series 28. These bonuses range from $32.50 to $16.50 for every $100 bond. • To collect • these bonuses, all you, need to . do is go•to any bank, trust company or credit union • and arrange for payment • as early as October 9. They'll do the rest. A second and final cash bonus will be paid on these bonds, which will continue to yield 10.5 per cent if held to maturity. In addition, the average annual yield to maturity on the last five issues of Canada Savings Bonds has been increased to 10.25 per cent, effective November 1, 1979. , In another change announced' this year, newly -purchased Canada Savings Bonds cashed before January 1, 1980 will bye redeemed at face value only - without payment of earned in- terest, If the bonds are cashed anytime after that date, earned interest will be paid for every full month" . the bonds are held from November 1, 1979. If you do not plan to redeem your new Canada Savings Bonds in November or December, this change will not affect you. As in the past, Canada Savings Bonds can be purchased for cash without paying accrued interest up to November 15, after that date, in- terest will be charged from November 1 at the rate of 10.25 per cent. CSB buyers will again be offered a choice of two Canada Savings Bonds - the Regular Interest Bond, which pays interest annually by cheque or direct deposit, and the Compound Interest Bond, which reinvests your money automatically and earns interest on the interest that • is paid at maturity or redemption. Regular Interest Bonds, are available for cash in denominations of $300', $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000. The Com- pound Interest Bond is also available in these denominations, plus one of $100. The minister of finance again reserves the right to terminate sales, other than payroll savings plan purchases at his discretion at any time after the close of business November 9.
