smorgasbord lunch on
Friday of fruits nd
vegetables they had
brought.
SOCCER
On October 5, a Soccer
Tournament between
schools was held in
Goderich in which
Brookside teams par-
ticipated.
The junior teams
played at Victoria School,
the senior girls at
Robertson School, and
the senior boys at the
Agricultural Park.
Although Brookside did
not win any pennants,
they had a lot of fun and
enjoyed the day.

The October meeting of
Dungannon WI was held
Thursday evening,
October 4, at the home of
Mrs. Elmer Black.
Seventeen members and
four visitors attended. All
were welcomed by the
president, Mrs. Geo.
Errington. Mrs. Gordon
Finnigan was pianist.
Mrs. Harry Girvin,
secretary -treasurer gave
her report. Mrs. Graham
McNee explained how
part of the money from
the Ploughing Match is to
be used for the Family
Services program.
Plans were made to
,take a program to
necrest Nursing Home
in Lucknow for their
Birthday Party Tuesday,
October 23.
Mrs. Cecil Blake
reported for the
Dungannon Area Cancer
canvass and thanked the
volunteer workers. Two
hundred and ninety-three
dollars was given to the
Lucknow Branch and this
is a $20 increase over last
year's gifts. Thanks to all
who worked or gave for
this worthy cause.
The theme of the
meeting was Resolutions
and Mrs. Warren Zinn,
convener, introduced her'
guest speaker, George
Brophey, a lawyer, from
Lucknow. He explained
the Family Law Reform
Act and Wills.
Mrs. Zinn fittingly
thanked the speaker, and
Mrs. G. Errington gave
courtesy remarks.
Lunch hostesses were
Mrs. W. Zinn and Mrs. H.
McWhinney assisted. by
Mrs. E. Black.
Hurricane David victims need .your help
Still reeling from
Hurricane David's
ferocious assault on their
island Wednesday,
August 29, Dominicans
are today attempting to
salvage the remnants of
one of the worst disasters
to hit the region this
century.
The hurricane which
left some 60,000 homeless
(out of a populartion of
80,000), several hundred
critically injured and 60
dead, has done grave
damage to 95 percent of
the cash crops. Bananas,
citrus fruits and coconuts
were wiped out when
Hurricane David
unleashed its wrath.

months before students
are able to return to
school. Roads and health
centres have been
destroyed. Ninety-five
percent of the forests are

Since initial recon-
struction will take at
least two years, the
committee is pledging all
funds raised to a specific
project in Dominica. A
proposal is being
prepared from the island
and will be announced
shortly.
The immediate need is
for building supplies,
engineers and money.
Donations are being
accepted at any char-
tered bank in Ontario.

mittee is urging -`all
concerned popple to
assist the victims of this
disaster. So far, the
committee has channeled
over $16,000 through the
Canadian Red Cross
