The Goderich Mer- vancing to the league
chants of the South Huron final against Zurich.
Their statistics were also

preparing for their fourth impressive as five

Intermediate C grouping. Paquette, Len Kolkman,
Cam MacDonald and Ron

the league's top 10

The team is losing the
services of coach Gary
Miller, who last year was
named the skipper of the
year in the league. His
replacement is Arn
Parker, who has been
with the team for three
years in an assistant
capacity.
Corriveau is acting as
an executive director for
the league this year and
the team manager is Ken
Feagan.
The SHHL has ex-
panded to 10 teams in two
divisions• this -year.
Exeter, Zurich, Hensall,
Centralia College and
Goderich will make up
the North Division while
Thedford, Kettle Point,
Parkhill, Centralia and
Grand Bend will be in the
South Division. •
The Merchants have
already held practice
sessions in Clinton and
will begin , camp in
Goderich October 8,9'and
11. Any players over the
age of 18 are invited to the
tryouts.
They will play their
first exhibition game Oct.
15 in Goderich and their
first home game will be
the following Monday,
October 22. Home games
will be played every
Monday at the Goderich
and- District Community
Centre.
The Merchants enjoyed
their finest season last
year winning 20 of 24
league games and: ad -

The GDCI senior
Viking girls' basketball
team scored victories in
their first two starts in
Huron Perth Conference
action. Last Wednesday
in Exeter the Vikings
defeated South Huron 31-
25 and here Monday,the
GDCI girls swamped
Clinton Central Huron 60-
10.
Against -South Huron,
Bonnie :Reid led the
Vikings with 11 points.
Kathy McDonald had
eight points, 'Sonja
LaPaine had four and
Heidi Elliott added three
points.
Heather Riddell was
tops for South Huron with
16 points.
The game was close
throughout, with the
Vikings holding a 20-15
lead at halftime.
Monday's game here
was a different .story,
with the .Vikings
dominating the game
from beginning to end.
The Vikings put together
an aggressive, fast -paced
offensive attack, led by
Heidi Elliott with 16
points. Jenny More and
Marg - Conlon had 10
points apiece while Sandy
Rowe' and Karen Melady
each , hit for six points.
