Bantam's rally falls short in 121Oioss Walkerton defeated the Goderich International Bantams 12-10 Tuesday to win the WOAA bantam title in the'•' third and deciding game of the series in Goderich. Walkerton won the first game of the series here Saturday but the Goderich bantams forced the third game with a 7-3 win in Walkerton Sunday behind the fine pitching effort of Kevin Adams. Walkerton clinched the title with the two -run victory Tuesday but the Internationals deserve credit as a scrappy, battling team. They trailed 10-3 after three innings of play and Walkerton increased that lead to 11-3 after four innings of play. But the Internationals bravely fought back and chipped away at the Walkerton bulge before finally surrendering the 12-10 decision. Adams started the game for Goderich but gave way to Denis Kerr in relief. Kerr pitched the final 'six innings and held Walkerton to a single run giving his team-mates a Vz BY TD chance to produce a comeback. Hall and Adams led the Goderichf offence with four hits apiece. Hall had three singles and a triple and scored two runs while Adams chipped in with three single a triple and one run. Team-mates Chisholm and Rick Stahl added two hits apiece. One of Stahl's hits was a leadoff solo homer over the left field fence in the second in- ning. in the first inning. After five innings of play the score was 5-2. The Internationals played nine hard innings and the win was well deserved. Chris Pitre was three for four and scored three runs. Kevin Adams came through again. with three more big hits and scored one run. Next was Rick Stahl with two hits and scoring one run. The game was close up to the fifth inning with the score 6-4 in favor of Walkerton. In the.. sixth inning Walkerton broke loose and scored six more runs. Goderich tried hard in the eighth to make a comeback scoring five runs. Leading 'the Internationals was Kevin Adams batting four for five and scoring two runs. Denis Kerr, Mike Chisholm and Rick Stahl had two hits and two runs apiece. Chris Pitre had one hit and scored one run and one hit apiece went to Gary Abbott, Scott MacDonald and Jeff Denom me. The Elevators got back in the game in the fourth inning with a three -run rally to again tie the game. But Garb and Gear then took control of the game and scored two runs in the fifth and sixth in the sixth inning to cinch the championship. The Elevators rallied for three runs in their final at bat. Lori Keller and Susan Moore led the Garb and Gear offence scoring three runs apiece. Team- mates Kim Green, Anne Marie Murphy and Brenda Pollock chipped in with two runs apiece.
