Fall wedding
in Ashfield

The Reverend Hugh Nugent of Ripley and Mr. Robin
Wardlaw o.f...Toronto, brother of the groom, officiated
at the double ring ceremony. Organist was Mrs.'
Douglas Martyn and soloists were Miss Kathryn Day
who sang "Here, There and Everywhere" and David
,Healey who sang "Beautiful" and "The Wedding
Song". Piper, David MacDonald, played "Maid of
Kintail" and other traditional Scottish songs.
The bride was given in marriage by her brother,
John Simpson of Kintail. She wore a traditional white
gown of heavy French chiffon with a Queen Anne
neckline, fitted waist, full skirt, long train, sheer bell
sleeves fitted to the elbow, French guipure lace trim,
French guipure appliques and covered buttons down
the back of the dress. She also wore a long French tulle
illusion veil with a mantilla headpiece and' scalloped
lace trim matching the dress trim. She carrie_d_a
cascade bouquet of peach and white roses with ferns
and baby's breath.
Maid of honor was Mary Lillian Simpson of Kintail,
sister of the bride. She was gowned in a cornflower
blue silk polyester dress with blouson top, slit cape
sleeves and scooped neck and back. She wore.a peach
rose in her hair and carried a bouquet of peach roses,
white lilies and blue delphiniums in her arms.
Bridesmaids were Barbara Farrish of. London,
Kathleen O'Keefe of London' and Mrs. Melody.
Thomason of Toronto, all friends of the bride. They'
'were 'gowned the same as the maid of honor and
carried the satire bouquets.
All the bridal attendants wore gold chokers, gifts of
the bride.
Groomsman was Cameron Thomson of St.
Catharines, best friend of the groom.
Guests were ushered into the church by David and
Jonathan Wardlaw of Toronto, brothers of the groom
and David Simpson of Kintail, brother of the bride.
The groom and his attendants all wore black
cutaway tuxedos. The groom .wore a white rose in his
lapel and the attendants wore blue tinted roses in their
lapels.
Candles were lit at the front of the church by Brian
Simpson and Duncan Simpson of Kintail, brothers of
the bride:'
Following the wedding ceremony, a dinner and
reception were held at the Lucknow Community
Centre. Centrepieces of peach roses decorated the
tables and the head table was adorned by a wedding
cake decorated in peach and blue.
The bride's mother greeted guests wearing a long
huckleberry colored silk polyester dress with a
crocheted blouson top with scooped neck and back and
a corsage of pink and mauve tiny roses.
The groom's mother assisted wearing a longcream
colored lace knit dress buttoned down the -front with
long sleeves and a corsage of bronze colored roses.

length .dress with tiny pleats on the bodice and back
and ...V-shaped neckline. She also wore snakeskin
shoes, orange lilies in her hair and a corsage.
Mr. and Mrs, Wardlaw are residing at 30 Gloucester
Street, Toronto. The bride is a student at Knox
College, Toronto and the groom is an employee of
Confederation Life Insurance, also in Toronto.
Prior to the wedding the bride was feted at a relative
sl-f6wer at the home of Mrs. Gail Lowry, a community
shower at Ashfield , Presbyterian Church, and a
girlfriend shower at the home of Barbara Farrish.

The second meeting of
Tiger Dunlop 4-H Group 1
was held Monday
evening, October 1 at
Colborne Township Hall,
Carlow.
The meeting opened
with the pledge followed
by the secretary's report.
The eight girls present
answered the roll call,
which was, "Show your
design idea for a
needlepoint free choice
article".
The girls practised
graphing their initials on
paper. Canvas was
distributed and the girls
divided into two groups.
Anne Feagan showed one
group how to graph the
pillow design on canvas
and Helen Brindley
demonstrated to the other
group how to graph
designs on coasters.
The next meeting will
he Monday, October 15,
two weeks time.
The club has decided on
Susan Pollock's title; "To
the Point", for its name.
