4-H Club
meets

Meeting two of
Holmesville 4-H club was
held Tuesday, September
18 at the Holmesville
public school.
The members all an-
swered the roll call,
"Show your design idea
for needlepoint free
' choice article."
Deb Hutchinson,
assistant leader', opened
discussion with the
topics: The standard
colour wheel and colour
schemes for our
needlepoint project and
easy ways to thread a
needle (which was later
demonstrated). She then
assisted members with
the drawing of squares on
the canvas, which every
junior has to make
coasters from.
Mrs. Hutchinson
demonstrated and helped
each member to do the
goblin stitch. ,
Judy Renner then
demonstrated and helped
each member do the
continental stitches,
Alvin and Barb Bettles
have returned after a
very enjoyable trip to
western Canada, visiting
their relatives.
While there the Betties
met cousins of Alvin's
that they had not seen in
58 years. Many hours of
talking went on as they
all discussed their
families and the Bettles'
vacation.
Barb said it was nice to
be home ani she could do
some catching up on her
work.
Apple picking at the
Bell's Fruit Farm is in
progress with a very good
crop of Macs.

Perdue enjoyed a day on
Saturday at the 98th
Oneida Indian Fair at
Southwold. -
Holmesville
Public School
October 8 is
Thanksgiving Day. On
October 1 the pupils will
be dismissed from school
at 2:10 p.m. as the
teachers of Holmesville
School will be attending a
Mathematics Guideline
Workshop. Please.
remember that the buses
will leave the school at
2:10 p.m. on this date.
On October 3 (Raindate •
October 4) the school's
soccer- teams will travel
to Brucefield' Public
School for the annual
soccer tournament. They
will travel to another
tournament -Cot -1 October 10
(Raindate October 12)

naments will be sent
home with soccer
players.
A cross-country
competition will take
place .on October 23
(Raindate October 25)
with representatives
from our school . in at-
tendance.
On September 25, an
open house will be held at
the school from 7:30-9
p.m. This is an op-
portunity for parents and
teachers to become
better acquainted. We
shall look forward to
meeting all the parents at

'attitudes that the pupils

The School Band is
under the direction of Mr.

29 members. Twelve are
in Grade 8 and there are
15 students in their first

Needlers
meet
The third meeting of
the Holmesville II, 9-H
Club was held on Sept. 24
at the home of our
assistant leader, Mrs.
Van Ninhuys.
We choose as our club
name the Nifty Needlers.
The leaders took over
the meeting. We'read up
on design and color/The
leaders showed and
helped with the gobelin
stitch, then the bargello,
and the cross stitch.
Some thought' the cross
stitch was very con-
fusing, but after a while
most got the hang of it.
The meeting closed with
the motto and refresh-
ments were served.
