In the ladies' division Shirley Baechler has captured the club championship with Marg Smith in the winner -up position. The handicap was won by Verna Kane with Betty Helesic as the runner-up. Chris Madill won over Edna Powell for the new handicap trophy.', The two -ball winners were Mary Lynn Telford and Sue Gower. The runner- ups were Rocky Whalen and Betty Helesic. In the men's division Tony Bedard Jr. defeated Leroy Bedour for club champion with the decision being made on the thirty-sixth hole. Second flight was won by Tim O'Brien and Vic Powell was runner-up. Gary Chambers won third 'flight with the runner-up being Geo Williams. The handicap winners were in'first •flight Ralph, Schefter; second, Vic Powell and third Ian Stoker: The runner-ups for each flight were Randy Miller, Thompson. Congratulations to all winners and runners-up • as a lot of rounds were very close. If only, we could have two putted the last hole instead of three. Joyce Bolton won low gross .on ladies' nite with Anne Miller winning low. net in second flight. Rocky Whalen won low gross' in third flight and fourth flight was won by Dorothy Bogie, Sue Gower, Evy McDonagh, Bunny Leblanc and Edna Powell. Tonight is the ladies' closing dinner. Hope you have planned to attend. The most improved lady golfer was won by Anne Miller. Anne has worked hard to improve her golf and by winning this award her efforts are rewarded. She lowered her handicap by 32 percent. Congratulations Anne. Another familiar person who won numerous events is Bob Greer. Bob won the most improved male golfer award this year by lowering his handicap 60 percent. Congratulations Bob on 'a great year of golf. The game was a duel between the Company's Stan Doherty and Don McWhinney of French. Doherty limited French to one lain on six hits while McWhinney gave up the two runs on just five hits., The game was scoreless through the first four innings before French capitalized on a Company error in the top of the fifth to score the go- ahead run. Doherty retired the first two men of the in- ning but Ron Klages reached first on infield error. Ray Herd and George Sutton then followed up with con- secutive singles to score Klages with the game's first run. French maintained that slim one -run lead until the bottom of the sixth inning when they reciprocated with an error that led to the tying run. Tom O'Brien led off the sixth by reaching first on an error ' and was sacrificed to second on glen tigert's bunt. McWhinney got Mike Donnelly to ground out for the second out but Rob McDonald delivered a clutch two -out single to score O'Brien with the tying run. Doherty retired French in order in their half of the seventh to set the, stage for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. McWhinney got Brian Bowman to line out but Tom O'Keefe started the rally with a single. Casey Wildgen grounded out, moving O'Keefe to second and Bill Durst knocked knocked in the series cliagh.tng run with a single. Canada Company got four of their five hits in the bottom half of the order with singles from Bowman, O'Keefe, Wildgen and Durst. McWhinney had the only extra base hit of -the game with a two -out double in the fourth in- •ning but he was stranded on Rob 8tanden's ground out. Bridge Club scores Evelyn Galbraith and Dawna Sproule combined for a point total of 134 to take top honors in the North-South section of play at the September 25 meeting of the Goderich Bridge Club. Their total was also tops among the 10 tables in play for the Quarterly Club Cham- pionship. Judy Thorup and Carol Wiliiams finished second with 1171/2 points while Cathy MacDonald and Pat Stringer were tliirci wi102 points and Frank andJim Donnelly fourth with 96 points. Bill Bradley and A. Weerasooriya 'teamed up to win the East-West section with 117 points. Barb Howe and Marian Lane settled for second place with 1041/2 points and were followed by Joanne Duckworth and Lee Ryan with 1031/2 points and Mary Ann and Bob Dempsey with 103 points.
