Sunset club
matches in final
Club matches are now
in their final rounds at the
Sunset. Semi-finals are
being played off this week
with the final rounds
being played on Satur-
day, September 15.
The men's Club
champion match will go
to 36 holes of golf between
Leroy Bedour and Tony
Bedard Jr.
Good luck fellows!
Let's hope we have good
fall weather like
Saturday past.
The ladies section has
planned an old fashioned
pot luck supper for this
Thursday. No schedule,
no plans, just make what
you enjoy best. -Bring a
guest as the season is
getting short, and we only
have three more ladies
nights left.
Shirley Baechler won
the •closest to the pin on
number 16, and Sue
MacAdam won the
longest drive on the• 12th
hole.
Low gross winners in
each flight were Della
Bedard, Mang Siiiii.n,
Grace Sale and Dorothy
Bogie.
Our two -ball closing
party will be held on
Sunday September 16 at 1
p.m. This is an 18 hole
game of golf with your
better -half and includes a
pot luck supper.
Bob Greer was the low
gross winner on men's
night with Dirk
Walterbeek winning low
net.
First flight winners
were Stan Connelly,
Randy Miller, Stan
Telford; second _flight
was won by Harold
MacPherson.
Other winners in the
flight were Geo Bolton,
Greg Beacom, Vic Powell
and Andy Smith. Third
flight winners were Coley
McDonagh, Ray Cook
and Jim Green.

the closing party which is
to be held at the arena on
Saturday, September 22.

Legion Peewees
honor players
The Goderich --legion
peewee baseball team
held their team barbecue
and awards night at the
home of coach, ' John
Buchanan last Friday.
Daryl Madge was
awarded the most
valuable players trophy
for the peewees. The
trophy is given to the
player combining talent
with sportsmanship and a
good=a-ttitude-Paid-Green
won honors as the most
improved player and
Robbie Gibbons won an
award for best at-
tendance.
Team coaches, Keith
Good and Buchanan were
presented with a plaque
by the players and
scorekeeper Deb•
Buchanan also received a
small trophyfor her
diligent efforts.

McDougall -and. Knight win Two Ball

McDougall and Jean
Knight came out trophy
winners when they
defeated Hazel Beaver
and Gail Bettger in the
Scotch Two -Ball Com-
petition at the Maitland
Country Club. The teams
were evenly matched
with no strokes involved,
and it was steady,
straight golf which paid
off.
Doris Paquette and Pat
Munroe fought it. out to
see iho would meet Sue
White in the Ladies'; Club
Championship, and it will
be `Doris and Sue vieing
for the trophy on
Championship Day at the
Maitland.

showed for Ladies' Night
at the Maitland the

The town or Goderich is
hosting this year's annual
Ontario Parks
Association golf tour-
nament.
About 40 members of
the OPA will be at the
Maitland Golf and
Country Club Friday.
The tournament is
normally hosted by a
centre much larger than
Goderich but the.
Goderich parks depar-
tment this year per-•
suaded members to visit
this town.
Golfers will tee off at
nine a.m. and will end the
day with a banquet.

Men's night at the
Maitland last Thursday
had only 25 showing and
winners were Bob Shrier,
Jack Mackenzie, Fred
Jewell, George Gould,
Russ Gemmill and Jack
Hinton.
The tennis tournament
played on Labour Day
weekend was pretty
much a Conlon family
affair, as shown in last
week's paper. One
notable exception was
that the "men's cham-
pionship was won by Bob
Dick over Pat Conlon.
The tennis crowd had a
fun day this past Sunday
-when they played -for the
"Geritol Cup". The
ladies' "legitimate
winner was Vi Stringer
and the men's legitimate
winner was Don
MacEwan, with the
highest number of points.
The very lowest number
of points, and the winner
of the Geritol, was poor
old Bruno Lapaine,
followed closely by Roger
Turcotte. Get that tired
blood built up, Bruno, and
