Dundee golfer wins Sunset tournament
'one hundred and
eleven ladies par-
ticipated in the third
annual ladies invitational
golf tournament held at
the Sunset on Wednesday.
Most of the golfers played
seven or eight holes in the
rain but everyone
managed to finish the
eighteen hole round.

timed in 2:09.1 over a
track listed as fast. The
UDRS driving , cham-
pionship went right down
to the wire with three
drivers still in contention
going into the tnth-race.
Clarence Young picked
up two wins and a third on
the final night to give him
the, lead going into the
final race and haat to wait
as a win by either Ray
McLean or Fred Sadler
would .have given them
the title. McLean finished
second in the tenth with
Whirling N while Sadler
was third with Sam
Herbert,
Young's two wins came
-with Rollys Mark and
Lucan `Boy while he was
third with Willvan Girl in
the first.
As well as winning with
Quick Killeen in the tenth
Ross Battin also steered
Donnadale Parker and
Shiaway Red to victory.
Ray • McLean gave
Gaelic BO a new lifetime
mark in the first race in a
time of 2':10.2. Gaelic Boy
is owned by Allan
MacDonald of Goderich.

second race of the year in
House
league

last week.
In the first round of
semi-final play, Team 4
defeated Team 2, 5-2 to
take a one -game lead and
Team 3 edged Team 1, 3-2
in a shootout.
The second game of
both series will be played
Thursday, September 6 at
Agriculture Park.

quite a large field with
seventy-two couples
taking part.
This Saturday Sep-
tember 8 will be the
men's and ladies' night
playoffs. Men's and
,ladies' night will continue
through to the end of
September and in the
case of bad weather the
evening will begin at 7:30
p.m. So, mark your
calendar through to the
end of September for
golfing events.

gross and low net winners
on the member -guest
night for the ladies. Marg
Smith and Toni Henry
won second flight. Third
flight winners were Anne
Miller, Betty Helesic and
Karen Sturdy. It was nice
to see Bev O'Brien a

won by Betty Reid and
Cathie Hubick.

Clinton ousts
Goderich peewees
The Goderich legion
Peewees were eliminated
from playoff action losing
19-4 to Clinton in Clinton
last Thursday.
Clinton took command
of the game from the
start erupting for 10 runs
in the first inning. They
added seven runs in the
second inning to hold a 17-
1 lead and coasted to the
semi-final Win.
Mike McCallum had
two hits for Goderich and
scored one run. Matt
Buchanan chipped in with
a two -run homer in the
third inning to score
team-mate Randy
Gaynor.
Goderich scored their
final run in the seventh
inning as David Almasi
singled and scooted home
on McCallum's hit.
Almasi and Jim Keller
shared the mound duties
for'Goderich in the loss. .
Goderich had advanced
to the semi-finals with a
close quarter final win
over Dashwood.
