Mrs. Sarnways was present at the council meeting to request that part of the golf course be changed from recreational to rural residential. No motions were recorded regarding A this request. Council accepted with regret the resignation of J. Fritzley from the Recreation Board and further passed a motion that Mrs. Alice Porter be contacted to see if she would be willing to fill out the balace of Mr. Frit- zley's term of office. Council passed a motion to request that the Ministry of Housing remove , the Ministerial Order 74973 insofar as it affects the, property referred to in the bylaw. Council decided to order 50 silver maple trees at $1 each and 20 red maple trees at $1 per foot for the township from the Maitland Valley , Con- servation Authority. Tile drain loans were requested by K. Vanden Heuvel ($69,000), H. Greydanus ($7,500), R.E. Thompson ($5,030) and Irwin Martin ($1,230) but council deferred action until a policy can be adopted for distributing the township tile loan allotments. Council passed a motion that the township is in favor of building a township halt adjacent to the Holmesville Public School on land deeded to the township by the Huron County School Board and further that the township represen- tatives will meet with the Huron County School Board representatives at their pleasure to pursue the matter. Building permits were requested by Mary Mair for an addition' to a mobile home, James Cox to demolish a mobile "home and for a mobile home, Tom Flynn for an above ground swimming pool, Lewis Dempsey to build an addition to a shed, -J-ohn Van Wyk to build a grain storage bin, Lawrence Vanden Heuvel to build a grain storage bin, Phyllis Cox4to build a grain storage bin, Willis Switzer to build a grain 'storage bin, Jack Gerrits to 'build a porch, Don Taylor to build a feed room; Joe Zdenctiak to build a storage shed, John Westbrook to build a barn addition, Lenus Yeo to build an implement Huronview News and Views shed, William Brand to build an implement shed, David Sowerby for a mobile home and Peter Bos to build a manure tank and barn addition. Council passed a motion t� hold Bos' request pending payment 'of the proper fee and West - brook's pending a cer- tificate of compliance. The other permits were issued. Council then adjourned until August 20 at 8 p.m. The last several years have been nothing but trouble for the area white bean growers and this year is no exception. Not only is white mould reducing. crop yields, but the Mexican Bean Beetle is munching his -her way through some fields. The photographer caught these beetles eating in Goderich Township, last week. (News -Record photo) 4. Dungannon WI hosts August birthday party The Roman Catholic residents held mass on Friday morning. On Friday afternoon, bingo was played in the auditorium. Frank Bissett and Mrs. Elsie Henderson held choir practice on Saturday morning. The theme of Rev. Darrell's sermon Sunday morning was "Friend- ship". The Choir sang "Take time to by holy". All the women residents in the home were invited to join women's bed care for their barbecue on Tuesday. There were 57 women residents in at- tendance. Because of cool weather, the hamburgers and hotdogs were served in the auditorium. The Dungannon Ladies Institute entertained at the August Birthday party On Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Harold Elliott started. the program off by playing the bagpipes. , 1VIrs. Harold Elliott's daughter, Helen Elliott sang several solos. Miss Beth McConnell gave two readings, and Roy McCreight called a square dance ac- companied by his daughter Mrs. Helen Elliott, on the piano. The ladies had a sing -a -long. New committees Goderich town council passed two bylaws Wednesday, one to fill vacancies on a com- mittee of council and another to appoint members to a new committee. With the passing of the bylaws, Gus Chisholm, Jack Brady, Bruce Sully and Dave Gower were appointed to the Goderich Economic Development Committee for a term ending November 30, 1980. Members of council on the committee include Stan Profit, Elsa Haydon and Mayor Harry Worsell. Last year council established a property standards bylaw that prescribes minimum standards for the maintenance and occupancy of property. The members of the Property Standards Committee are Martina Schneiker, Maurice Jenkins and James Kirk. This project may not be completed until late October, and at this time, the Auburn Junior Farmers `will donate the remaining amount to bring the total donatipn.,to $500. The club has also donated $300 to the Junior Farmer Association of Ontario Disaster Relief F,und, which will be. forwarded to a tornado - stricken agricultural area.
